Yeah, those Dr. Z Maz 18 1 x 12s sound great. Locally a band called Sweatheart of the Rodeo played with one and the quality was indeed audible in his tone. I looked that model up after that show but just wished I'd asked the guy which speaker he went with.

the guy who played with dwight yoakam (eddie perez?) said he had to stop using vox combos cuz they fell apart on tour lol...interestingly, he uses deluxe reverb RIs now instead.

I have a SG Classic with P90's and run it through several different amps, depending on the tones I want.

It sound very nice through my D Z Maz 18 1x12 combo.

The make the Maz 18 in a 2x10 also, so it may workie.

I also like it with a 5 watt Gibson Goldtone amp I have or a Fender DRRI, sound good through my Marshall JCM 800 combo, but everything sounds good through that amp.

I had one of those newer Vox AC 15, imo the Vox company is basically a name, and not much like to old Vox amps.

Even Jeff Tweedy of Wilco who love old Vox amps was using Mogan amps for a while. The other guitar player/ keyboard guy Pat, uses a Reeves.

You can get a lot of mileage out a Princeton reverb.

You should check out a PRS SE one. Amps try a Fender Pro Junior its more Vox/Fender clean tone and Marshall plexi type overdrive ' date='15 Watts and 20 pounds (so really light) 1x10 combo .[/quote']

yeah i love the PJ. I think the PJ sounds like the BJ looks. (and thus better)

if im going small fender amp, though its gonna be a princeton reverb as someone similarly suggested pevious.

PRS have that wierd scale length.

Last year I wanted a 'less expensive' axe/amp combo for my weekly blues jam gig, and stumbled on a Vox Night Train 15 Classic and a Fender Modern Player Deluxe Thinline Tele w/P90s...a year later, and I am still digging this combination of 'inexpensive but expressive'. The capabilities of the pairing has far exceeded my expectations and certainly transcended the original genre specifics.

You can certainly spend a lot more and get a great sound, but you don't have to. I will say that I tried a number of these Teles before I landed this particular one, the necks are hit and miss. My second choice would've been an Epi Casino, but the Tele feels better to me.

Also the Vox AC10 was tonally disappointing, and just wouldn't keep up with a drummer, IMHO...much the same problem with the Laney Cub. If you really need a 2x10, you might find the Fender Pawnshop Vaporizer of interest. I let mine go after a few months; I just never 'bonded' with the lack of control on the Vaporize setting...but it does have a certain something.

The Tele:[similar except for the tuners]https://reverb.com/item/3064128-fender-modern-player-telecaster-thinline-deluxe-2000s-black-transparent?_aid=pla&pla=1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwsai_BRC30KH347fjksoBEiQAoiaqsduCLlIlhSmJ7f5Vms5QlcX18Cpgl3GJTeQGHYpaaHIaAn1z8P8HAQ

The Nighttrain: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/181796944350?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

I have added metal corners to mine, and it looks like a classic AC15 from a distance....
