Members garthman
Hello everyone and sincere apologies for the late start - it's been a weekend of merriment in Garth House with lots of people stopping over. This month's submission is a song called "Witches Hat" by The Incredible String Band. https://app.box.com/s/305w3q1bx926dfd73znk0ebn2szgzgqx A bit of an unusual rendition from me - I'm using my Yamaha Pacifica electric guitar fed through a multi-effects processor with reverb, chorus, etc. So instead of my usual stripped down acoustic version of an electric band songs it's a souped up electric version of an acoustic band song.- at least they were acoustic back in 1967. Members Idunno
Well done, Howard. You could actually be the original singer for that song. Very English country/folk. That is one I do remember, though I was just 13 at the time. I remember it as the first of the chanting/haunting styles of music I would come to enjoy. Members Idunno
Howard's announcement caught me unaware and without a recording for this installment. So I recorded this a few minutes ago, mistakes and noises no charge, 1-take. I'm wired right now after a couple Father's Day donuts and coffee. I've been playing this tune for years and will again at tomorrow's open mic. The set-up is my usual Yamaha nylon string and SM57 to the SA220 and aurally recorded by the Zoom H4. Thanks for sharing and for keeping the VOM alive.Idunno - That sounded more like Gordon Lightfoot than Paul Simon (the vocals at least) but very well done.catscurlyear - riffmeister lives is a tough act to follow but you did a fine job. Much better than I could do.

Members g6120
Hi All, This song was actually recorded the very day of the VOM. I had written the lyrics some time ago and never put music to them. I was playing around with different arrangements and almost gave up and was going to sleep on it. Then I came up with this arrangement and liked it so much I decided I better capture it before I lose the moment. So here it is with minimal rehearsal. I wanted to capture the feeling. For me rehearsing a song can result in the feeling being lost so I gotta record it right away. I'm still a little in shock but I posted this new song to Twitter and got a "Like" from David Crosby. Members recordingtrack1
http://app.box.com/s/d96vtgf5iqob86ypeqvrz1dbdxshsagj Having problems posting this to the point of nausea. I hope you like it. Haven't done this stuff in a long long time and I guess I forgot. Hope everyone is doing well. EDIT: I hope I finally got this to work right. Dang, I'm rusty at this. I did the song in 5 or 6 takes yesterday before I finally got through it without a major flub. It was recorded on my trusty little TASCAM DP-008 in 16 bit at 44.1 so it is not the highest quality for sure. I did a quick master in Audacity when I converted it to MP3 and added a little reverb. What you hear is what you get, LOL! Oh, it is a cover of Something In The Way She Moves by James Taylor.
