Members mrbrown49
There's nothing really special or even useful in the fender/gibson manuals. Why do you want copies of them? Not sure about gibson, but fender has their manuals posted on the web for pdf download.
Members WRGKMC
They make good automotive manuals but I'd think they are out of their league when it comes to instrument repairs. you don't need a socket wrench to repair guitars and I cant see spending $20 here where you can get all that online for free. http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/BookFeature_ElectricGuitarView?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001 If you want to spend money on good repair books, You are better off going to Stuart McDonalds and get some decent ones. http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Books/ They also have DVD's http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/DVD/ Online resources, http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/ and trade secrets http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Trade_Secrets/
Members knotty
Out of their league? They can make good manuals for cars with 15,000 parts but they are not up to a guitar manual? Yeah right.
Members DeepEnd
I'm not acquainted with their guitar manuals but my Haynes manual was worth its weight in gold for maintaining my old Toyota Corolla back in the day. I have no doubt they're excellent but with so much information available free I wonder whether they're worth the money (21.99GBP MSRP = US$36, US$21 and up on Amazon). Members WRGKMC
I guess I should have said out of their field not league but Its still pretty close. Haynes doesn't build guitars they simply print what they can dig up. They buy all that information for auto repair from auto manufacturers. you wont find that with instrument manufacturers. Building instruments has always been a craft protected by those in the industry for a number of very good reasons. Piracy only being one of them. The main one is most repairs and setups are unique to each instrument which makes most factory specs useless. They don't have schools to train to be a Luther like you would for auto mechanics. You'd either learn it working for a manufacturer or as an apprentice under the guidance of a master craftsman. The internet has opened that up quite a bit but its still something you have to do first hand. If you're going to get books, its best to get the ones written by some of those master craftsman. At least you might get your moneys worth.
