Strat pup selector repositioning ideas please.

As regulars know I am a Strat man.

One source of irritation however is the pup switch which I am inclined to knock when playing enthusiastically and I am trying to think of a new location for it.

One simple possibility is to turn it 90 degrees so that if you hit it it is side on not length ways.

Alternatively up in the Les Paul position but that is major routing.

Maybe go from toggle to slider or push button.

Any of you tried changing it? and what worked? (or didn't :) )

Use three S-1 switches for the Volume and Tone controls.

You could wire them up as individual ON/OFF for each pickup or get really creative with them and figure out some easily accessible, usable pickup combinations.

I believe the S-1 is a 4PDT so you could design a LOGIC circuit where one switch may have priority over all the others in one position while switching to a combination of the other two switches in the other position.

I like the idea of individual buttons for each pickup. It's a bit adventurous though. My first car had buttons to change gears, lol. It was a dodge valiant.

Conversely, what about just moving the regular switch closer to the lower tone control?

Was it this model ? a crazy design I was going to buy one in 68, (long story)

No, it wasn't. Valiants were made by Plymouth. Dodge made Darts.

As for the selector switch, rewire the guitar with a master volume and tone and use the hole for the second tone control. Install a rotary selector instead of a toggle: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/SWR51/5-Way-Rotary-Guitar-Pickup-Selector-Switch.html.

Thats the answer! Rotary switch, forgot about that. You're also right about it being a Plymouth Deep End and it did have push button gearing.
