Did a bit of googling and the the liquidation part seems to be true. Also, seems that there's a lot of people who have been displeased with them for one reason or the other.

Didn't know that they own/owned many of the Denmark Street stores as well.

Following several weeks of rumour and speculation, Music Ground, the three-strong retail chain owned by father and son team, Rick and Justin Harrison (who also own the amplifier brand Hi Watt and have several other shops in London's Denmark St) , has closed its doors. The Manchester Music Ground, in Oxford Rd, was the first to be closed, two weeks ago, while the branches in Call Lane, Leeds and Denmark St, London, were closed this morning. The fate of the Harrisons' other shops - a total of five in London's Denmark St, including such icons as Roka's, Hanks, Andy's and The Bass Cellar, is unclear but it seems likely that following a rearrangement, at least some of these will remain open.

Speaking to MI Pro today, Justin Harrison was unable to discuss the closures but confirmed that a liquidator was in the process of being appointed. Harrison stressed that Hi Watt - a separate business - remains healthy and is still very much in business. He hoped to be in a position to make a statement about the underling reasons for the closures and to reveal future plans in a few weeks.

MI Pro was unable to speak with the liquidator, but can confirm that enquiries should be directed to P & A Partnership, 93, Queen St. Sheffield. 0114 275 5033.

I'm not defending MG, because from the few times I've visited their shops (they also own Roka's, Hanks, Andy's and The Bass Cellar) in Denmark Street, they seemed like a bunch of cunts and rip-off merchants. However, everything posted just seems to be rumours and without any hard facts or source, you could say that the post is libelous. Just my $0.02

Which is why I asked Bobby for links / clarification / etc. If it's just his POV / opinion, he's entitled to that, and if it's a news announcement, then I'd like to see links that support that.

I for one have no opinion regarding their business practices. I've seen their stuff at NAMM shows (JMI) and it looked / sounded good, but beyond that, I have never had any contact with them nor done business with them, and therefore have nothing to add to the discussion - except to ask that people remember that they're responsible for their own words, and HC isn't responsible for what you say... I recommend you document and "back up" any allegations you are personally making, and provide links to any press releases, news articles or other "third party" sources you're referencing or quoting - and clearly differentiate between those two things.

I will say that several of these posts make me extremely nervous about the idea of ordering a Studio 2 (Pep Rush clone) pedal. :(

maybe the fakes but the rest...? There are still some nice pieces of gear and a fair bit of equipment in most of these shops that most of us would love to get our hands on!

With the amount of stock we would be talking about, the liquidated stock will likely be auctioned off in private specialist auctions to music retailers. Joe Public would not get a sniff no doubt. I hope I'm wrong and there are some great bargains to be had.

Given the reputation Music Ground has, do you really think the pricey {censored} would end up in auction houses under the gaze of the liquidator in order to provide cash to creditors? I don't believe that for a minute. They'll have found a way to hide some of the pricey {censored} so the liquidators don't get their hands on it.

Recent post about JMI amps and Music Ground from the guy who makes some JMI amps:

Bye Bye JMI

by SteveG on Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:22 pm

Hi,

Just a little announcement for a few people who may be interested to know that I am no longer building the JMI 30/6 amplifier chassis (or anything else for that matter) for Music Ground.

We had our ups and downs over the years, but it became intolerable to deal with them and I finally pulled the plug yesterday.

I'm proud of the fact that out there somewhere are 350 of the finest amplifiers I was capable of building. Owners can rest assured that I built every one of them as if I was building it for myself.

I'd like to think that JMI 30/6 #30190 wasn't the last AC30 clone I'll ever make, but obviously it may be some time before I can set myself up to supply amps independently.

Regards,

Steve Giles

Does anyone like Music Ground out there?!?

Interesting link from the Gretsch Pages about fraud and Music Ground:

Theres a big debate going on currently on the muso net about fake guitars. I thought it would be of interest to you all to hear about my recent and ongoing experience regarding a vintage Gretsch guitar i brought from Music Ground Manchester in England which was sold to me earlier this year as a modified Gretsch 1960 6120 for

i think we need to find someone suitable, like David Main or Ryan from Skinpimp to make you a custom fuzz, Phil

David might be too busy with D*A*M stuff.....but i bet Ryan might do it!
