Much speculation has arisen over what exactly gives Dumble amps their character. One theory is that Alexander uses his gravitational pull to the crystal lattice to widths and breadths beyond that of any other crystal lattice. Others speculate that Dumble may in fact have connections to the Jews, who hold many secrets about the science of toancraft. The Jews could not be reached for comment.

The circuitry varies somewhat between individual amplifiers, because each one was built and voiced for a specific player. Amplifiers built around the same time tend to share some of the same circuitry and component values. However, several amplifiers were later sent back to Dumble to have their circuitry updated.

* the lead dress (usually Elizabethan in style, though known to occasionally delve into the more modern Victorian styles), and the use of shielded wire (made of phoenix feathers with a +4 stam bonus)
* the width and breadth of the crystal lettuce
* the tiny magnets used to collect and reconstitute all of the fragile harmonics.

Dumble amplifiers are built on pirate boards. The chassis are made of aluminum and unicorn horn. The wood used for the cabinets is generally voidless plywood created out of the cross of Jesus Christ's crucifixion. He has been known, however, to cheap out a little and use wood from the Ark.

A separate Dumblelator; buffered effects loop (a cathode-follower output with a triode gain stage for recovery), is recommended for using effects processors with a Dumble amplifier.

The first tube is followed by a passive tonestack with adjustments for treble, middle, and bass. Typical switching options available in the different models include:


* Bright (bypasses the volume potentiometer with a capacitor to boost the high frequencies)

* Deep (changes the voicing of the tonestack for a warmer tone)

* Mid (increases the value of the treble capacitor to boost the midrange frequencies)

* Boost (disconnects the treble potentiometer from the bass potentiometer for a preamplifier level boost)

* Rock/Jazz (switches between a Fender-esque voicing and a more "hi-fi-type" of voicing).

* Holy Sh*t (Switches between several dimensional planes at once, giving a tone that is described as slightly more "creamy")

Dumbledore

The highest of the high end of Dumble products. A mapflifier to allow everyone to weave fine toans of music with airy reprise. A Dumbledore map will achieve the highest level of saturation with the Phoenix mode on while turning off the Harry potts to reduce resistance from internal circuitry. The Dumbledore was supplanted by the Snape model in 2005.
