I just pull the effects I want for any given project. But if I had to assemble a gig board tonight? As npfrs said, there is a component supply issue. But you can get a BYOC kit (with the real-deal parts). Boss probably can't get the part in sufficient volumes, but smaller builders may be able to. Of course, there are many other good options for vibrato besides the VB-2 like the BYOC you mention, the M9, Behringer UV-300, Malekko, etc.. I'm a VB-2 fanboy though.
