Yeah I would to get the initial stuff off, then sand with your hands to smooth it all out. I used a hand-held power sander (mouse). Your hand starts to get numb after a while, lol. Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but i think all MIM Fenders that have a grain pattern (sunburst, blonde) use a laminate on each side. Fakegrain.
