Nobody would be in my list because I wouldn't make a list. The only time NME ever gets mentioned now is when they do one of their pisspoor. It's Rolling Stone syndrome, just throw up another worthless list to cover over the fact that music journalism is down the toilet and there are precious few artists interesting enough to write about. Just a gossip magazine/website that only cares about the Gallagher's, Adele and Lana Del Rey.

Members Expressway to yr Skull
The NME and Melody Maker used to be greatness. Sure they built up and knocked down bands even 25 years years ago but they did it with wit and panache.

Are they really that good Wow, that's one of the better "Top ____" lists I've seen. I mean, I don't think my list would have more than say 3 of the same choices, but at least they made interesting choices and didn't rely on boomer favorites. Never heard of Pulp? What's wrong with you? They are pretty good and Common People is a really good song. Maybe not the second best of all time, but a much better choice than Yesterday (which probably would have been there if this was a Rolling Stone list). Members A.P. Ryder
I would pick "She's Lost Control" over "Love Will Tear Us Apart." That song is just freaky scary good on all counts.

Members melx
Common People is a classic! Yeah, they were massive here, Different Class was a number 1 album. I think Jarvis is a lyrical genius even though I'm not a massive fan of the band. ...actually I think you'd like Pulp, Indie Music with a Pop Disco bent sounds right up your alley. Check out 'His and Hers' and 'Different Class' .. those are the two albums that made them in the 90's ... although their first album was '83. Members Fender&EHX4ever
Fix'd The last time I actually read an issue of NME or Melody Maker from cover to cover was around 1991. It's changed a bit since then I imagine.
Members melx
Cool, I will check it out. I sort of missed out on that whole period of alt rock - mid to late 90s? I was pretty mellowed out at that time. Yeah, pulp got lumped in with the whole Britpop thing in the second half of the 90's, I was never really a fan at the time but all those songs are still stuck in my head today, so they are catchy if nothing else. Members Fender&EHX4ever
a much better choice than Yesterday (which probably would have been there if this was a Rolling Stone list). I never Loved that song until I heard McCartney sing it live in Miami a couple of years ago. It was like he had written a song in his 20s knowing that he would genuinely feel it when he was 70. Truly EPIC.
