Members Ming Chow
Going to be in Newark, from December 13th to the 15th.What/Where is a safe and moderately priced(~$100/night) hotel? Closer to the Prudential Center, the better. However, safety is top priority. Thanks for your help!

Members The Villano Dude
I would avoid Newark if you can. Unfortunately it is one of my least favorite places.
Members Trick Fall
Newark is a short train ride from Manhattan. I've driven through it a few times and my wife grew up fairly close to there, but I don't know much about it.
Members A.P. Ryder
Not a great place. I grew up near there and it was basically off-limits for us white boys; however, I heard that it's making a comeback - but I've been hearing that for years. Manhatten or Hoboken would be a better bet, as the commute to Newark is only a trainride away. IMHO, of course.
Members decode6
Name your own price on Priceline a few days before in the area; you'll get some great deals that way.

Members Kap'n
Newark is f'n scary. There must be some hotel that's near the airport, yet upwind of the Neptune Cogeneration plant. In case you're wondering, yes, Danelectros were made from congealed vapors from the plant.
Members decode6
Newark can't be any worse than Camden. That place is wacky.

Members dpizappi
My grandpa used to be a truck driver. Once he had to drive a truckload of beer to a warehouse in Newark. When he got to the warehouse the trailer was open and there was no beer left.

Members 66_skylark
I would stay at the Hyatt in Jersey City and take the PATH train (15-20 mins) to Newark Penn Station, a few blocks from the Prudential Center. It will cost more than $100 a night, but The Hyatt is in the nice and fairly safe part of Jersey City on the Hudson River where a bunch of Wall Street firms have a presence. There are some really good restaurants and bars close by.
