Members ArrMatey
Love danelectros. Just played recently a friend's Baritone and it's probably one of my favourite guitar for the price.Works so well for heavy doom stuff.

My old '58 Dano 3011 plays like a 6-string banjo - plinky/clanging attack, honking nasal midrange wen you wind it up with gain. I love it. And that fricking neck - they're just really great feeling guitars to play. The vintage models aren't that much more expensive than the reissues - I'd hold out for the real deal and get the fat slab of rosewood they used on the necks and saddle, and of course the pickup(s). I've played quite a few of the reish models and while in the neighborhood they don't sound nearly as good as mine does. If you have to go reish - make sure it has the rosewood saddle as it makes all the difference in the world, tonally.

I'm not an expert on them by any stretch of the imagination, but I've played the modern 59 and 63 models and loved them both. They SOUND great. Both the ones I played also played pretty nice. If there was any way of easily fitting a HB at the bridge position I'd buy one. I may buy one anyway at some point.

Members Folky_Grunge
A few weeks ago, my dad and I came across a '90s U2 that a pawn shop had for $39.99 because someone got stupid and left a nine off the price tag. My dad ended up buying it, and I played it, too. It was pretty nice, especially for $40. The in-between position is very usuable: a surprisingly balanced tone that was sparkly but not overly bright. Members GuitarSlim101
Here's my two old Danos. I even took some better pictures for you.My 1448 with a string thru Supro lap steel pickup in the bridge position. I also refretted it and carved a new compensated saddle. It's my favorite electric right now. It's so damn funky. And the beat up old Convertible. The previous owner had attempted to paint the whole thing black, and then some sort of blue-gray, and then sanded it back off.
Members TravvyBear
I love that pickup you installed. Didn't you have some clips of it when you did it? Ran through a 5E3 or something?

Members Reaganomics!
Frankly, I wouldn't think twice about buying a Dano in light of Prop 8. If I remember correctly the CEO donated a grand of his own money or something like that, which is {censored}ing chump change compared to the millions upon millions the LDS poured into that {censored}-show. Personally, I think the whole 'voting with your dollar bills' thing is a waste of time in most cases anyway. I swear I saw that exact same green sparkle dano from page 1 at my local music-go-round... I've wanted a DC-59/DC-3 so bad since I first saw Jimmy Page sliding the {censored} out of his DADGAD Dano. Always held back, but I've been looking them up serious recently and it seems like some people are trying to gouge on anything pre MIC. You want 500-900 for a KOREAN dano? Really ? A grand for a Silvertone 1457 with the case?
