sorry, there is alot to it, but it becomes simplified when you figure out which each thing does, it sounds retarded even to me, but it can be easier sometimes then my tube zipper. the hoax and tube zipper are the most flexible pedals ever created.

with the hoax, i got a mxr micro amp to go with it to control any volume issue since i use it so much, and put it in one of my loops.

i have basic chorus sounds, flanger sounds, phaser sounds, robot sounds, my personal favorite-oberheim like filter sounds, messy noise and etc.

i will have to post my settings sometimes, i actually just found a really cool one lastnight, i have a pulsar right after mine and pairing them up on some higher rate setttings on the hoax makes for a great time, especially with some reverse delay on one repeat behind it all. sounds like that remind me why i don't spend 3 or 400 on zvex pedals.

basically the thing with the hoax is, its different than anything you've heard, but usable. i think alot of people got turned off by it early on because their expectations were skewed. mine was, i want a pedal that can handle all of my modulation needs plus have its own character, it does this for me, that is why i'm satisfied.

plus like i said before, its a pedal that your normal settings can be found quickly (another misconception by people) and its a pedal that you can find a different sound in it literally til the day you die.

amount, feedback, and rate, are the most important factors in self osc. i mean sure there are others but those three alone will blow up your amplifier.
i recently recorded a song and in the second verse thats all it is musically is the hoax self osc in different areas. sounds perfect.

i just want to add as well, i am using this pedal more and more as time goes on. seriously, i find myself just leaving it on as its character is just unlike anything i've ever heard, it gives me a "defining" tone. i love this thing.

i would say that the hoax and the tube zipper are the two pedals that i still am wowed by everytime i turn them on. lastnight i hit my tube zipper on during practice and man, its sound was so natural, who knew that a filter is WAY WAY WAY better than a joe schmoe tone control when using tube distortion?

I feel that this is one of the strengths of the Hoax - chaos and unpredictability. Every time I approach it, I feel like I might run into something fresh.

The self-oscillations are fantastic! I love EHX for designing some of their effects to allow this.
