:D j/k

I think some death metal bands do or have, and I think even King's X guitarist used to play a SS Peavy amp or even a PA or something like that; at least I read something along those lines once, it seems.

Ty Tabor - King's X

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkBltfEqb7s

He used Gibson SS's, for awhile used PoD's (in the studio, anyway), and Randalls now days

Michael Romeo - Symphony X

He uses Line6 Vetta's. He used PoD's and a bit of Mesa Boogies recording 'The Odyssey' and 'V' I read in an interview.

Jeff Loomis is (or was) using Line 6 amps. Dave Mustaine supposedly is now as well.

Until last month, I had always used tube amps, but I bought an old ART DST head to try out at a gig, and it sounded fantastic. However, it's one of a select few solid state amps I've played in my life that actually sounded good at a high volume, and could hold its own against a tube amp on the same stage.

From what I remember, those were just for endorsement purposes and he never really used 'em live. Someone who teched for him posted on here- and I think I've heard this from another source as well- that his real live rig is a Divided By 13 and an old Superlead.

Porcupine Tree - Line 6 PODXT

Isn't Steven Wilson just using the XT for cleans, though? If I recall correctly, he's still got his Bad Cat out there. If using SS for cleans counts, then In Flames (Pod XT Pro) and Metallica (JC 120) belong on the list.

A few more, off the top of my head:

Suffocation- Ampeg VH140C

Dying Fetus- Ampeg VH140C

Scott Ian- Randalls, don't remember which model

Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative)- MosValve power amp

Jerry Cantrell- MosValve power amp (before he got his 2:90)

C.C. Deville- Crate SS heads

Adrian Belew- a ton of modeling stuff, Johnson Millenniums, primarily

At The Gates- Peavy Supreme 160 on Slaughter Of The Soul

In Flames- Marshall Valvestates on The Jester Race and Whoracle

Peter Tagtgren- Sansamp PSA1
