Members ranalli
Wow, MAJOR props to the pilot, that could've been a serious disaster. yeah man...talk about being quick on his/her feet. It's not like there's a lot of places to go in NYC....you basically only have the river...IF you can make it there.
Members OverDriven
They're saying that there aren't even any serious injuries. Well...except the bird. I hear he's in critical condition.
Members HaloJem
...maybe the birds were wearing {censored}ing ponchos, too!
Members '63-Strat
I'm sure we won't hear for awhile, but I'd think that any disabled/elderly people would be in a potentially fatal situation just going into that water at all when its that cold, so hopefully no casualties after the fact. Members v_c
i've always known birds could be a danger to smaller aircrafts, i had no idea they could take down a passenger plane like that They test aircraft windshields by shooting chickens at them from a cannon No joke. But yeah, suck a flock of birds into a jet engine and it has a good chance of being majorly {censored}ed. A 737 had a emergency landing last year in Ciampino, and the plane was described as 'severely damaged' after the incident. Well...except the bird. I hear he's in critical condition. Members Andersonology
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5526723.ece "Ms Brown added that the plane appears to have hit one or more birds. Government officials do not believe the crash is related to terrorism." Really?!? You think?

Members JBecker
Long night for my dad at the FAA. Thank God it appears that everyone is ok. Those ferries really swooped in fast and that pilot did a hell of a job putting her down gently-- that's textbook emergency work. Plane was only in the air for 6 mins according to reports. Members ke2
Can we let the whole terrorism thing go please? If you`re talking about my post, it was about grammar, not terrorism... A TURBAN is worn on the head. A TURBIN(e) is something else.

Members 17 Tubes
Props to the plane pilot...but also props to those ferry pilots. The Hudson is a fast moving river....and those boys(n girls?) got right up in there, navigating the river, the boats, the plane...great job! Sometimes disaster brings out the best in us. Members glenecho
Wierd...usually under 10,000 ft pilots have to restrict their speed in order to keep their plane safe from bird strikes (250 knots in a plane like this). Must have been a whole flock of them to bring it down.

Members exafro
Can we let the whole terrorism thing go please? No, I think its rather obvious that Al Qaeda has been training flocks of pigeons to fly into jet engines. It's the perfect plan!
