Thanks for the info Gtrbill... I happened to think that I actually have a pair of old Sovtek 6L6WXT's upstairs as well. Can't remember where they came from, but maybe I'll throw them in the JCA50 and see what happens...

The bass knob is much more usable when using lots of gain but I still prefer the amp using the normal channel with the gain set to about 2 o'clock and then hitting it hard with the klon overdrive. To my ears, that's just such a cleaner and clearer overall sound with (when boosted) as much, if not more saturation than the lead channel but without the smoother compressed voice.

It sits amazingly well in a mix with our singer's DSL. The nitro is just entirely too powerful. It simply overwhelms the marshall and is too dominating of a sound to have a well balanced mix. Even at half power...

I have what is basically the Friedman mod up in the mod thread with no saturation switch. The sat switch is just a jose master.

Hi out there , Ted from Australia ...... have just joined the JC LOUNGE

Have been playing in a duo , now a trio for the past 5 years

My gear :

ROLAND CUBE 60

BOSS ME70

Fender Highway 1 Strat

J&D Luthiers Tele

J&D Luthiers LP

Have just sold the CUBE 60 , bought a JET CITY JCA20H 2 wks ago

Excellent decision

I have built a cute little box to go with it

- Speaker Cab is solid timber Tasmanian Blackwood

- Speakers 2 x 8" VINTAGE JENSEN ALNICO

It screams , beautiful loud cleans with a touch of breakup when pushed hard

I got a good friend of mine XELA to build be a solid timber speaker cab

Timber : Tasmanian Blackwood

Loaded it with 2 x JENSEN 8" VINTAGE ALNICO spks , looks a treat see below

My next project is to replace the BLUE JET CITY FACEPLATE with a powder coated aluminium mesh

grille ( same as is on my spk cab )

VERY HAPPY with this amp

SPEAKERS SOUND VERY GOOD , had a band practise last night and sound is SUPERIOR TO THE ROLAND CUBE 60.

I have only played thru the speakers for about 2 hours so I don't know if they're run in yet.

HOW MANY HOURS DOES IT TAKE TO RUN IN SPEAKERS ??? or is running in speakers a load of crap ??

Obviously there is no huge bottom end ( cab is open backed with 2 eights ) , 2 x 12" or a quad box would

have a bigger sound with more bottom end but I'm into convenience . The Jet City & speaker cab are a dream

to move around , light ( I'm 58 so I'm not into big heavy gear any more )

Super clean sound , so I'm really happy with the result

I replaced the BLUE JET CITY faceplate last night with a powder coated

aluminium mesh grill ( same as on spk cab ) , amp &

cabinet look matched now ...........

what do you think out there ?
