Members rhythmguitar28
I'm just thinking about the person who called the police in the first place. Kinda funny. If they had bothered to step out and ask him who he was etc..... they would have met a music icon/ legend. Instead they called the cops on 1! Better safe than sorry?? Members Fred Fartboski
"What is your name, sir?" the officer asked. "Bob Dylan," Dylan said. "OK, what are you doing here?" the officer asked. "I'm on tour," the singer replied. A second officer, also in his 20s, responded to assist the first officer. He, too, apparently was unfamiliar with Dylan, Woolley said. "How does it feel To be on your own A complete unknown"
Members MePeel
The police responded correctly in this case. Perhaps the person who phoned it in was a tad paranoid, but that's another topic. Dylan is a bit eccentric, andhis off stage appearance might reflect that. He was peeking into the windowof a house for sale. The police questioned him, and gave him a ride back to his hotel to see his ID. NO BIG DEAL! It's only a big deal if if you want it to be.Mel
Members knockwood
Dylan is a bit eccentric My bad. We should definitely put all the eccentrics in squad cars.
Members Fred Fartboski
More people should be polite to cops, there'd be a lot less beatings. People deserve a beating for not being polite?
Members knockwood
People deserve a beating for not being polite? I'd go along with that. In NYC, if you do not smile at The Man and offer him a glass of lemonade, it is legal for the Fuzz to confiscate your pecker.
Members Ohioarrow
What freaks me out about this is not that a couple of kids didn't recognize Dylan, but when the {censored} did it become illegal to take a walk? Precisely what I was thinking. When did we begin demanding papers for walking around and taking in the surroundings? Not good

Edit: Sorry Jamesp looks like you beat me to it. Wait... He was actually without an umbrella in the rain??? And WET? Man, that IS suspicious. They really should have clubbed him a few times, IMHO, but I guess the police have some discretion in these matters.

Members guildfire
Last time I checked the police have to have "probable cause" of an illegal activity to take action. When did walking down the street qualify for this treatment?

Members guildfire
I wonder how those on this thread that "rationalize" this police behavior would feel if they were stopped for walking down the street and taken for ride downtown? Members knockwood
Dylan wasn't upset about it. Why is anybody else? This is absurd. I'm only upset because they didn't throw the book at his vagrant suspicious ass. Like he can't afford an umbrella? And once they had determined that he was indeed who he claimed to be, and thus that he is 68 years of age, why was he not immediately put before one of them socialist death panels? What we need is some goddamn law and order around here.

Members JasmineTea
Dylan wasn't upset about it. Why is anybody else? This is absurd.Because when the police take me by the arm, even though I've done nothing wrong, it's best to remain cool. Let them run their check or whatever. Dylan knew this. But that does'nt justify the cop's actions. Cops came to my house and took me into custody because I looked like someone who'd done something to someone. Someone had called in my plate number on my car. The cops explained they were gonna take my picture and show it to the caller, I said "Bring it on! It was'nt me!", so they did. An hour later they took me back home. The cop who arrested my was positively the most beautiful woman I have ever seen..
Members stratocaster202
The thing that gets me is that if someone on HC saw a guy they considered suspicious walking around their neighbourhood under similar circumstances and they called the cops, if the cops didn't respond as they responded to the call about Mr. Dylan, a thread would appear bemoaning the lack of police support.
