Do you guys remember a thing called "Blood Rock" back in the early 70s?

It was a minor trend.

I remember there was some song about car accident survivors that epitomized the style. Curious if any of you remember it. I can't quite recall it.

I'm listening to old Stones tonight and Sister Morphine "The wail of the ambulance" and Midnight Rambler's "Shove a knife right down your throat" kind of reminded me of the "blood rock" trend of the early 70's.

Spark any recollections with any one?

Yeah, thanks. That was the odd little bit of deja vu I was looking for. :D

Things go in cycles. Then it was in the lyrics and on the album cover.

Now it's on the Gibson site and on the musician's faces.

I'll take vintage "Boodrock" over this {censored}e.

Of course! D.O.A. was a great song with very creepy music. It was about a guy describing his pending death following a plane crash. The lyrics are as follows:

------------------------------------------

I remember, we were flying low,

and hit something in the air

Laying here, looking at the ceiling,

someone lays a sheet across my chest.

Something warm is flowing down my fingers

pain is flowing all through my back.

I try to move my arm and there's no feeling

And when I look, I see there's nothing there.

The face beside me stopped bleeding

The girl I knew has such a distant stare.

I remember, we were flying low,

and hit something in the air.

Then I look straight at the attendant,

His face is pale as it can be.

He bends and whispers something softly,

He says there's no chance for me.

I remember, we were flying low,

and hit something in the air.

Life is flowing out my body,

pain is flowing out with my blood.

The sheets are red and moist where I'm lying.

God in Heaven, teach me how to die.

I remember, we were flying low,

and hit something in the air....

They had the same Producer as Grand Funk. I think he was Terry Knight. DOA was banned from radio play because at that time Ambulance sirens were taboo to the FCC. Blood Rock was a Ft. Worth Texas band. The song has been covered a few times on other albums. Anybody remeber their song MELVIN LAYED an EGG?

Do I know Bloodrock! DOA baby! In fact I "do" know Bloodrock, at least the bass player really well. His name is Ed Grundy -- I was teaching Web Development at a community college part time a few years ago (getting teaching experience) and he was the director the program I was teaching under. I got to know him really well. Just a great guy and boy did he have some stories -- touring with Grand Funk back in the day. After one of my classes was over at night on many occassions, we'd sit there and talk gear, music, and he'd tell stories of his days in Bloodrock. In fact, because of him, that is what got me back into playing after many years off. They are from Fort Worth, TX -- and maybe two years ago did a reunion show here as a benefit for one of the original members who was really ill. I need to call Ed and see how he is doing, been a little while since I've spoken to him. They went from hard rock to this kind jazzy prog type of band after the DOA era.
