Members ILikeGuitar
Here's my new Epi G-400 Vintage/Faded in Worn Cherry. Had to sell my first guitar (I miss it ) to get the $ to pay for this one but I'm happy with my new purchase. Plays very well and has that ACDCish growl . This might be my last NGD til next year since college will once again be taking all my money blech. I played the Faded Gibson SG at the store but I didn't like the finish on it. I didn't like being able to feel all the grains of the wood on the neck it was weird. The Gibson sounded better but was almost twice as expensive. I finally lost my SG GAS... for now. I might post some short sound bites later. Funny thing is that GC marked it up to $365 during the July 4th sale. I had to personally show them that it was $299 on their own site. Then one salesperson got mad at my salesperson and "subtly" said: $365 IS the price.. weren't you at the meeting this morning...? Good ol' honest GC. I actually bought the floor model which was beat up and got the price down to 290 with a gigbag but then I took it home, started playing, and the volume knob started popping off:freak:. So I exchanged it for a new out of the box one! There is a big yellowy brown streak going across the dark brown rosewood fretboard. Anyone know if there's a way to sorta blend it in a bit? Wonder if it's because it's cheap rosewood? Pics! Some sound clips for your enjoyment.. especially if youre thinking about getting one. recorded through my small line6 combo amp. i know these clips are rough guys ive only been playing for a little more than half a year so bear with me a few short ac/dc riffs using bridge pickup.. yeah i dont play them very well i know but its for showing the pickup sound http://www.supload.com/listen?s=SYY4Y7V2dp4 neck pickup on clean channel http://www.supload.com/listen?s=StJNfNY0jSm
Members metalheadUK
Nice guitar!I personally wouldn't worry about the fingerboard...wood can be inconsistent, and it makes your guitar that little bit different to everyone elses. It may well darken down a bit after plenty of playing and you could try reading this thread:http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1671272And try one of the reccommended products to treat your fingerboard.HNGD! Members Norcal_GIT_r
Very nice. There's nothing wrong with your fingerboard. Rosewood does that.I think it looks cool with the light streak.
Members flyby
Liquid shoe Dye(not polish) might blend that streak ..its not to strong of dye ..your board might still look like ebony after though
Members IRG
Looks great! Happy NGD. I would keep the fretboard as is-character. I got the Epi G400 in ebony. Really good guitar stock. No issues at all. I almost wished I had gotten your finish though. I was into the Iommi black SG look. Shows everything fingerprint though. Enjoy!! Members ILikeGuitar
Thanks guys! Yeah the streak is no big deal, I might keep it. Yeah the orange switch tip is weird too, it'd be cool with a black or white tip. I love this guitar!

I love this guitar! Not a bad idea to change out the switch asap anyway on cheaper guitars ..in the mean time they have just the plastic switch knobs here..... http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-switch-knob-Cream_W0QQitemZ300128190977QQihZ020QQcategoryZ47076QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Members ILikeGuitar
Pic of Grovers for dcindc. Never used them before this guitar, they seem to hold everything very well.Any work I should do on the guitar straight out of the box besides basic setup, changing switch or switch tip, and conditioning fretboard? BTW the frets on this thing are amazing.

Members dcindc
I think you need the cheap import switch cap, not the actual Gibson one. Mine didn't need anything other than fretboard cleaning and oiling. TNKS for the pic.

Members flyby
You G-400 guys could also just paint that PU switch cap(or black sharpie ) ..until you replace the switch entirely. Is there still white plastic binding on the neck edges of the g400 worn/vintage models ?

Members ILikeGuitar
The white binding on the neck was only on the older models I think. Not sure how well sharpie would work lol haha. Could turn out good or look ugly.
