Members voneville
I found a really cool Mom and Pop shop a while back, but haven't had time to step in. I finally got a chance today, and they had a bunch of cool stuff. I picked up a Vantage VS650.

Members Coralkong
That guitar is most likely built by the Matsumoku factory in the early 80's. Very, very nice. And probably very, very heavy, too! HNGD. I'd have jumped on that one, too! The switches are 1 for PU selection, and the other is for coil-tapping the humbucker. They're probably early DiMarzio pickups as well. Schwing...... Had a Aria Pro II that looked a LOT like that back in the day. Is it set neck, neck-through or bolt on? Members voneville
Cool! Interesting guitar. Hows it sound? Thanks, sounds really good. Pickups are articulate and clear, not muddy at all. Sounds great with distortion, very good classic rock/punk/early metal sound, but covers everything well in clean mode. Bolt on neck, made by Matsumoku. It's actually pretty light, much lighter then my MIM Tele. I should weigh it.
Members Coralkong
Really? My Aria Pro II was a neck-through, 24 fret job with a FR trem on it. Weighed a {censored}ing ton! I mean HEAVY!!!!!!!! Like heavier than a LP heavy. Great pickup! And I mean it! AWESOME!
Members lowbrow
I have a 1982 Vantage bolt neck from Matsumoku (Avenger). Maple neck, ash body....very light...I think I weighed it and it was 6.5 pounds...but I'm not 100% on that
Members Coralkong
Mine was the only one I have ever seen built like I said. 24 fret, neck-through. I THINK it was a Cardinal Series, but don't quote me on that one. The alternating wood in the center of the guitar ran the entire length of the neck. Couple that with the Original FR, it was heavy. Man do I wish I still had that guitar just for studio work. Oh, yeah, that's why I got rid of it......sigh.... I played out, and it was a bear to play through the night with. Great tone, though. I traded it in on a SG, which was a LOT lighter. (Or was it a Super-strat? I forget.....) I have not been able to find another like it, ever. And now I'm jonesing...... Members bigconig
I remember those. Very cool. My first decent guitar back in the early 80s was a Vantage LP Copy. I wish I had kept it Congrats and HNGD
Members voneville
Sweet! Is the fretboard ebony? No, it's rosewood. The light in the picture wasn't so great. I actually have a nice Digital SLR Camera and studio lighting, but I'm way too lazy to set it up to take pics of my guitars
