Members bluesboy
im not sure exactly which model I got. I won it on ebay, for what i think is a fair price for a guitar in good clean conditin with a hardcase. Anyways, the auction said it was an "50th anniversary" model, but it was made in 1996? The serial number is N6 and then 6 other numbers, which im guessing is a 1996, and it says made in USA on the headstock. Im just curious what exactly this guitar is? Like just a normal standard USA strat, or some anniversary guitar, etc. Any ideas? thanks

Members FenderPusher
Is there any kind of badge or anything on the headstock that says "50th Anniversary"?
Members JC777
Fender's 50th anniversary, not the Strat's 50th. 96 would be right.
Members bluesboy
Fender's 50th anniversary, not the Strat's 50th. 96 would be right. ahhh, i see. maybe that's where i was getting confused
Members bluesboy
after looking again, theres a round sticker on the back of the headstock that says "Fender, 50 years of excellence" or something like that
Members Brian Krashpad
Fender's 50th anniversary, not the Strat's 50th. 96 would be right. Yep. The "N" in Fender's serial number system is for "Nineties," thus N6xxxxx is a '96 guitar.

Members Flogger59
Not necessarily a limited edition, as every guitar that they made that year was so stickered, as was my "60th Anniversary" Highway One P-Bass.

Members DonK
Fender has had more anniversary models than Bill Clinton has had paramours. Enjoy your MIA guitar and ignore the "anniversary" designation: it's of no effect.
Members WildWill
That is gorgeous. I emailed the seller and told him I'da gone $700 on it though. Just kidding! Good snag!
Members steve_man
Totally sweet guitar! I love 90's Fenders. I really want a mid-90's Lone Star Strat. Maybe someday...

Members Lefty's Ghost
You have good timing, I have a feeling $550 for a '96 MIA Strat will seem like quite a deal after the Fender price hike starts in February. I have mint 2007 MIA Strat that I'm planning on selling...after February 1st.

I have mint 2007 MIA Strat that I'm planning on selling...after February 1st. yeah... i figured now was a good time to pull the trigger. Aside from the fact that i've wanted an american strat for many years, I could see that $550 turning into $700 not too far in the future
