  1. Vintage sound straight from the source The SonoTone Vintage series represents the culmination of over three years of experimentation with various materials and manufacturing techniques by SonoTone founder P.K. Pandey. Having spent more than 25 years on a quest for impeccable tone, both as a studio recording engineer and A/V systems design/build engineer, Pandey's journey eventually led him to reconsider the fundamental medium and point-of-contact between the player and the guitar, the material source of the instrument's "voice" — the taught, vibrating metal wires fastened to the bridge on one end and headstock on the other — i.e., the guitar strings. Starting from this fundamental level, Pandey tested different metals, amalgams, and manufacturing processes until he eventually found the hard-won formula, known only to him, which at last recreated the vintage tone and feel of the guitars he remembered playing as a kid. Now available directly from www.sono-tone.com, in the U.S. and in select European countries through Fulfillment by Amazon, as well as in Japan through the manufacturer's distribution partner, SonoTone Vintage series premium guitar and bass strings feature a pure nickel wrap wire with a hexagonal core, producing a rich, warm, clear tone on any guitar while also enhancing the instrument's resonance and sustain — in addition to providing tons of attack, whether plucked fingerstyle or with a plectrum. Unlike many contemporary, machine-made strings produced in bulk quantities outside the U.S. at mass-market, commodity prices, SonoTone Vintage strings use only the highest-quality materials available, with additional measures taken throughout the manufacturing process to optimize string behavior, playability, tuning stability and longevity, without using any coatings, so that only the pure elements that make up the string-wire ring out, unencumbered, through the entire body of the guitar. SonoTone Vintage series electric guitar strings are available in four gauge sets (9-42, 10-46, 10-52, 11-48) for $18.99 each; Vintage series standard 4-string bass guitar strings (45-105) are available for $69.99 each. To find out how the SonoTone Vintage series strings will enhance the sound of your own new, used or vintage instrument, please visit to www.sono-tone.com for more information. About SonoTone SonoTone is a small batch high-quality string manufacturer based in Massachusetts. In a world of commoditized, all-purpose guitar strings sold to the mass market, SonoTone strings are authentic, comfortable and expressive and sold directly to the customer. 2. Lowden goes back to its roots to celebrate 45 years of guitar making excellence Globally-acclaimed luthier George Lowden is announcing an exclusive limited edition Lowden guitar, the O-25 45th Anniversary, to celebrate 45 years since making his first guitar in County Down, Northern Ireland. Since 1974 the name Lowden has become known for quality, design, and craftsmanship, and has grown to include a dedicated team of craftspersons working alongside George in the Northern Ireland-based workshop. This week Lowden dealers will begin to receive their exclusive O-25 45th Anniversary models. Limited to just 45 guitars worldwide, the guitars feature exclusive custom appointments in recognition of the classic early model, the L25, and will be available in full body, cutaway and left-handed variations. The design and craftsmanship of the O-25 45th Anniversary Limited Edition gives a nod to the heritage and history of the Lowden Guitar by recognising the early predecessor, the L25. Commenting on the distinct heritage of the L25, George Lowden said, "Back in the late seventies, the 25 was regarded as THE Lowden. Its richness, warmth and power are true Lowden characteristics. The 0-25 has gone on to be used around the world by a vast array of artists in every style and genre imaginable." Distinctive 45th Anniversary features include Lowden’s vintage logo on its headstock, a custom label and provenance document, figured mahogany bindings and inlays, a custom back strip, and a custom 45 inlay on the guitar’s heel cap. The O-25 45th Anniversary Limited Edition guitar will also include a limited-edition 45th Anniversary Lowden t-shirt. Looking back on the recent growth and success of the Lowden brand, Managing Director David Ausdahl added, “The whole team is pleased to congratulate George Lowden on a truly exceptional 45th anniversary year. In the year George celebrates 45 years of guitar making we have new models designed by George being added to our core collection of acoustic and electric guitars, the launch of the all new Lowden acoustic treated guitar strings, and of course Sheeran by Lowden, our new range of eight acoustic guitar models born out George’s friendship with Ed Sheeran. The O-25 45th Anniversary Limited Edition is a fitting celebration of this year as the historic elements recognise the guitars, players, makers and friends who are all a part of our history and heritage.” The O-25 45th Anniversary Limited Edition guitar will be limited to 45 models available worldwide and can be ordered through Lowden’s global network of retailers. Visit www.lowdenguitars.com/dealers to find yours. About Lowden Guitars Based in County Down, Northern Ireland, the first Lowden Guitar was built by George Lowden in 1974. “I learned everything the hard way,” says George. “I had no one to teach me how to avoid the obvious pitfalls. I tried new shapes, bracing designs and many other ideas and gradually emerged from the ‘hard school’ of self-taught guitar making.” With a focus on craftsmanship and quality, every Lowden Guitar has a unique voice that develops over time in combination with its player. The same is true for the story of each Lowden Guitar – acoustic or electric – which begins with the provenance of the materials, design and workmanship and carries on through the music that is made with the player. The Lowden guitar is hand built with a talent for focus and an eye for detail, with a passionate commitment to no compromise. Lowden have built a team of real craftsmen who produce Lowden guitars by hand using Japanese chisels, planes, knives and spokeshaves. Unique design, high quality craftsmanship and uncompromising selection of tonewoods are hallmarks of Lowden guitars, as is the passion to constantly improve in every aspect of guitar making out of respect for those who will play them. 3. Company Will Also Present its New 4097 Choir Mic to Attendees NEW YORK, OCTOBER 1, 2019 – DPA Microphones will debut its new 2028 Vocal Microphone, which aims to change the live performance landscape with its renowned natural sound, road-ready design and competitive price point, to the U.S. pro audio market at AES 2019 (Booth 633). The company will also highlight its new 4097 CORE Supercardioid Choir Mic, expertly tailored to capture dynamic choir sound, at the show. “DPA continually strives to provide the most advanced technology and best sound possible to meet the growing needs of current and potential customers,” says Christopher Spahr, director of sales and marketing, DPA U.S. “Our new 2028 Vocal Mic and 4097 Choir Mic solutions are the latest representation of our mission. From churches to concerts, DPA is proud to offer ground-breaking solutions that continue to push the limits of modern technology.” Perfect for everyone from indie artists to international touring singers, the 2028 Vocal Mic is ideally suited for live stage performances, broadcast and pro AV applications. On a live stage, the 2028 delivers the same sonic qualities as DPA’s other great microphone solutions and needs no (or very little) EQ to sound just like you are standing next to the singer. This allows the artist to hone-in on their vocals as if not using a microphone, which puts less strain on the voice. Offered in three variants, a wired XLR handle and two wireless configurations, the 2028 features a brand-new fixed-position capsule, as well as a specially designed shock-mount and pop filter. With the expected wear-and-tear that comes with live performances, both the outer grille and the inner pop filter of the 2028 can be detached and rinsed. Additionally, the 2028 exhibits a supercardioid polar pattern, with the famous DPA uniform off-axis response. This gives the microphone a very high-gain-before-feedback and makes it easier to handle bleed from other instruments in close proximity, picking up sound in a natural way. Ideal for house of worship and other choir applications, the 4097 Choir Mic is one of the most natural-sounding solutions available. Intended specifically for capturing dynamic choir sound, it has the same sonic qualities as the brand’s 4098 Supercardioid Microphones. The 4097 features DPA’s famous flat off-axis supercardioid pattern, with a very high gain-before-feedback that makes the entire choir sound natural from all angles. This sets the possibility for multiple mics to be used on the choir without having to fight the artifacts created from uneven mic pattern pick-up, simplifying the process for a sound engineer. Configured with a MicroDot connector and a DPA adapter for wired or wireless applications, the 4097 Choir Mic allows the user to go wireless, increasing flexibility on stages where there are multiple uses of the same space. Featuring CORE by DPA amplifier technology, a clear sound is achieved as it lowers the distortion and expands the dynamic range. Further, the 4097 includes three shock mounts to secure the rumble caused by movement on stage and offers effective dampening at a level not seen before in similar types of mics. ABOUT DPA MICROPHONES: DPA Microphones is the leading Danish Professional Audio manufacturer of high-quality condenser microphone solutions for professional applications. DPA’s ultimate goal is to always provide its customers with the absolute finest possible microphone solutions for all its markets, which include live sound, installation, recording, theatre and broadcast. When it comes to the design process, DPA takes no shortcuts. Nor does the company compromise on its manufacturing process, which is done at the DPA factory in Denmark. As a result, DPA’s products are globally praised for their exceptional clarity and transparency, unparalleled specifications, supreme reliability and, above all, pure, uncolored and undistorted sound. 4. Rio Rancho, NM (October 1, 2019)– Lectrosonics announces the availability of the Venue 2-941modular, Digital Hybrid Wireless® multi-channel receiver system in the recently expanded 941-960 MHz frequency band for use in the United States. Other than tuning range, this version of the Venue 2 receiver is functionally identical to the wideband UHF versions available since 2016. The new system consists of the VRM2-941 host frame assembly and the VRT2-941 receiver modules. The Venue 2-941 can host up to six channels in 1RU and offers an Ethernet connection for programming and monitoring via Wireless Designer software on a PC or Mac computer. The Venue 2-941 receiver is compatible with previously introduced transmitters in the 941-960 MHz band including the SMV-941 and SMQV-941 miniature belt pack transmitters, the HMa-941plug-on transmitter, and the HHa-941 handheld transmitter. All transmitter models in this band offer 50 and 100 mW RF power settings. Additionally, the PCA900 semi-directional antenna is also available, covering the 900-1,100 MHz range, thus suitable for use with any 941 band Lectrosonics wireless products. The 944-952 MHz band was previously reserved for use by licensed broadcasters for Studio Transmission Links (“STL”s) along with some wireless microphones and IFB (Interruptible Fold-Back) systems. This band has now been expanded by the FCC to include specific ranges between 941 – 960 MHz. The eligibility for this band has also changed and is now open to all Part 74 Licensed wireless microphone operators. This band is the same throughout the US, thus offering the potential for many types of production teams to access clean spectrum everywhere they use these systems. “The availability of this newly expanded frequency band along with increased eligibility should really help those licensed wireless mic users who are feeling the spectrum crunch”, says Karl Winkler, vice president of sales and marketing at Lectrosonics. “With all wireless mic operators looking for solutions to the loss of the 600 MHz band and the resulting crowding in the 470-608 MHz TV bands, we are eager to provide new tools for them in order to get the job done.” The specific tuning ranges for these products is 941.525 – 951.975 MHz, 952.875 – 965.225 MHz., and 956.475 – 959.825 MHz. Parts of these bands are shared with MAS (Multiple Access Systems) and some fixed microwave devices. Operators using the 941-960 band should always coordinate their frequencies with the local office of the SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers), whenever possible, and take care to select frequencies that are least likely to result in interference with other licensees in the same area. These products all meet the new spectral mask regulations imposed by the FCC and in effect for all new wireless microphones since October, 2018. The system is available now. MSRP: VRM2-941 frame: $2,529; VRT2-941 receiver modules: $719. About Lectrosonics Well respected within the film, broadcast, and theatre technical communities since 1971, Lectrosonics wireless microphone systems and audio processing products are used daily in mission-critical applications by audio engineers familiar with the company's dedication to quality, customer service, and innovation. 6. 09/27/19 Boulder, Colorado Bolder Sounds has released Roots Upright Bass for Kontakt, featuring bassist Eric Thorin. This library could have easily been entitled Bluegrass, Folk, Americana, Rockabilly or Western Swing Upright Bass. This style of bass playing evolved from music where there were no drums to establish a strong rhythm. Therefore it was the job of the bass player not only to play the bass lines but also to create a strong rhythmic feel using special percussive techniques. Bo Clausen has created his usual flexible KSP scripting for this unique sample library. Features of the RUB sample library for NI Kontakt: 4 Kontakt instruments - the main plucked bass .nki, a bowed bass .nki, a knocks .nki (turns the bass into a percussion kit) and a extra slides .nki. Sampled articulations include standard plucks, slapped notes, ghost notes, finger flicks, palm hits, harmonics and slides. Recorded with a Nuemann U87 (on the bottom of the bass) and a Sennheiser small diaphragm microphone (on the fingerboard) with a control knob to balance these 2 sources. A very sophisticated Auto-Position script allowing idiomatic movement around the fingerboard - especially helpful for non-string players (keyboard players. This script can also be turned off if desired. String imposition keyswitches for playing up a single string. Velocity levels for each sample layer can be customized to the user preference for tonal variety. All keyswitch locations can be reassigned to the users preference. The bowed bass features a auto-legato script with short and long bow strokes in both down and up-bow articulations. All 4 RUB instruments share the same Effects data file for ease of switching between .nki instruments and keeping the same effect settings. Effects include pre-compression EQ, compression, post-compression EQ, delay, reverb and IR convolution. For deeper exploration and realistic touches, Hammond fans will appreciate a familiar simulation of the effects of "aging" components to control tonal balance, generator leakage and crosstalk, and the chorus circuit's presence boost. True tone, real experience All the controls are designed to recreate the exact experience of playing a classic, hardware B-3 organ - from the order of the chorus/vibrato settings to the placement of the percussion switches. Some additional features have been included as well, for modern convenience. The drawbars update in real-time when the inverted drawbar settings keys are selected, allowing users to save 24 custom drawbar settings per preset. For live use, a "Controls" view hides the keyboard and enlarges the drawbars and switches for less distraction while playing. MIDI assignments for modern Hammond digital organs are also included, making it plug-and-play easy to perform with everything at arm's reach. Extended stomp box effects The organ feeds a 5-unit pedalboard in the STOMPS section that features overdrive, graphic EQ, stomp box-style chorus-vibrato, wah wah and spring reverb. Derived from IK's award-winning AmpliTube and T-RackS software, these effects were carefully chosen and arranged for easy recreation of the widest range of iconic tonewheel organ sounds. They can also be assigned to MIDI control for on-stage use. Real Leslie® sound The signal is then sent to a CABS section that includes a choice of real Leslie amps and speakers that can be mixed and matched, along with a parallel guitar amp and 4x12 cabinet. Using technology derived from IK's award-winningAmpliTube 4 amplifier modeling, combined with an extended version of IK's Leslie® Collection, Hammond B-3X's cabinet section offers a massive range of sound-shaping option tabs. They include: Setup - lets users fine tune the Leslie's slow and fast speed settings - including acceleration and deceleration - and adjust the mic distance and configuration Leslie Amp - offers a selection of five Leslie power amps (or a power amp modeling off switch) and two guitar power amps to use in any of five Leslie cabinets, with full control over gain, EQ and volume Leslie EQ - enables the rotary speaker to be shaped with high-pass, low-pass and parametric mid EQ Guitar Amp - adds a parallel guitar amp derived from AmpliTube into the mix for use with popular rock tones used by top rock and blues players; offers full tone-shaping controls and spring reverb Mixer - blends the sound of the Leslie, with independent volume and panning of both the horn and drum mics, the parallel guitar amp, and the DI organ sound for unprecedented tonal flexibility Add professional polish Lastly, Hammond B-3X offers three rackmount studio effects derived from IK's T-RackS Mixing and Mastering Workstation to add a final, professional touch. IK's Limiter 76 FET-based compressor offers an iconic, timeless sound; the EQ-81 adds classic console tone-shaping and warmth; and a digital reverb adds a pristine sense of space. 15. New Digital Delay Models in the Iconic Compact Series Bring Players Expanded Features and Increased Versatility Los Angeles, CA, September 26, 2019 — BOSS announces the DD-3T and DD-8, two new digital delay pedals added to the famous compact series lineup. The DD-3T replaces the long-running DD-3, updating the classic pedal with tap tempo and other modern features. The DD-8 takes over from the previous-generation DD-7 as the most advanced delay in the compact series, enhanced with numerous sound modes and features that make it the most full-featured delay pedal in its class. In continuous production for over three decades, the DD-3 has been the go-to delay stomp for countless players, revered for its warm, round delay tone and simple controls that make it easy to dial in sounds fast. The DD-3T retains the same sound circuitry and controls as the DD-3 while adding useful functions for today’s guitarists. A key addition the DD-3T brings is tap tempo, an essential feature for creating the rhythmic delay effects at the heart of many styles. The onboard pedal switch can be used to input tempos, and it’s also possible to connect an external footswitch for instant-access control. The DD-3T also features a dedicated direct output like the DD-3, which allows users to send effect-only and dry sounds to separate destinations. On the DD-3T, this output has been moved next to the main output jack to make pedalboard connections easier. Equipped with a diverse selection of delays, the DD-8 packs impressive sonic range into one small pedal. Clean digital delays, vintage analog and tape types, and modulation echo are available, plus specialty delays like shimmer and reverse. There’s a new Warm type for softer echo tones, and a +RV type that blends delay and reverb together. Warp is perfect for dynamic ambient textures, while the new GLT type provides glitchy rhythmic effects. A Looper mode is even included, with up to 40 seconds of recording time and unlimited overdub capability. The DD-8 features full stereo I/O support with three different output modes. Independent mode provides linked parallel delays on the left and right channels, maintaining the true balance of stereo input sources in the effect sound. There’s also a panning mode for ping-pong delay effects, and a wide stereo mode for enhanced spatial depth. And with the Carryover switch, users can set whether delay trails continue or stop when the effect is bypassed. With the DD-8’s extensive real-time control options, players can easily bring their music to life. It’s possible to tap in tempos with the onboard pedal switch and control the Warp and GLT modes for unique expressive effects. Adding one or two footswitches unlocks more creative possibilities, like on-demand tap tempo, extended looper control, and a unique Twist effect. Alternately, an expression pedal can be used for continuous control of level, feedback, or delay time—or all of them at once. To learn more about the DD-3T and DD-8, visit www.boss.info. 16. Digitally Downloadable Laney Amps Collection is Newest Addition to Backline Heroes IR Range Ipswich, UK (September 26, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers celebrated for their classic guitar tones, is pleased to announce that they have teamed up with iconic British amplifier manufacturer Laney Amplification to create the Laney Cabinets Collection of Impulse Responses. The new Laney Cabinets Collection, along with the growing collection of authentic Celestion guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus. Celestion and Laney Amps have created an entirely new range of cabinet impulse responses based on the unique tones of Laney’s Black Country Custom cabinets– the LA212 2×12 and the LA412 4×12. This new range of cabinet impulse responses is for guitarists, producers and musicians who want to achieve the exceptional tone Laney Cabs provide when loaded with two iconic Celestion speakers – the G12M Greenback and the Heritage Series G12H (75). This new addition to the Backline Heroes cabinet impulse response range allows users to perfectly replicate Laney tone whether experimenting at home, recording in the studio, or playing live onstage. The legendary Laney Amplification was formed in 1967, when Lyndon Laney was playing in a local band, ‘The Band of Joy’, with John Bonham on drums and Robert Plant on vocals. Laney’s interest in electronics, combined with a lack of funds for a proper amplifier, led him to turn his hand to amp construction. Originally working out of his father’s West Midlands garage, Laney’s aim was to design and build amplifiers with certain tonal characteristics that were simply unheard of at the time. Word quickly spread about the tone that could be achieved with these new Laney amps and he began selling to local musicians, including Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. In 1970, Laney Amps’ signature tone was heard on Black Sabbath’s seminal, self-titled debut album, giving rise to the birth of a brand new genre: Heavy Metal. Demand for Laney’s amplifiers quickly grew too large for production to continue from a garage so manufacturing was moved temporarily to Digbeth’s infamous Custard Factory in Birmingham, then to Cradley Heath and finally to Halesowen in 2007. Since then, Laney Amps have grown and adapted to the market over the last 50 years to include a range of stunning cabs and pedals specially designed and built for guitars, bass, keyboards and drums. The Laney Cabinet impulse responses, as with all genuine Celestion IRs, have been digitally captured by expert sound engineers in a world-class recording studio, meticulous recording techniques and state –of-the-art equipment. Celestion have used the same range of professional, studio mics (Shure SM57, Royer R-121 and Sennheiser MD421) in the same six fully-adjustable positions as the current range of cabinet impulse response to offer the same options – Balanced, Bright, Thin, Fat, Dark and Dark 2, as well as an additional rear mic for the open back cabinets. Both of these Laney Cabinet impulse response have additionally been recorded using a Neumann TLM 107 room mic (Left, Right and Stereo) to allow users to mix in as much desired tone as required. Options are even available to choose the sample rate and sample length (200ms or 500ms). The Celestion Laney Cabinet IR collection includes: Laney LA212 2×12 – with Celestion G12M Greenbacks-- The Laney LA212 is a 2×12 cabinet with a slanted design loaded with two Celestion G12M Greenbacks offset diagonally to give the speakers room to breathe. This ensures a hefty low-end response and unbelievably clear, resonant tones offering plenty of volume without any unwanted distortion. Laney LA412 4×12 – Heritage Series G12H(75Hz)-- The Laney LA412 is the authentic replica of the cab used by Tony Iommi for Black Sabbath’s recordings and tours until 1979. This single angle 4×12 cabinet is loaded with four classic Celestion Heritage Series G12H speakers and was constructed with the same marine-grade birch plywood in identical oversized dimensions as the original LA412. With its tight and defined lows and incredible upper-midrange, the LA412 projects an unmistakable sound that can be felt all the way to the depths of hell! The Celestion Laney Cabinet IRs can be purchased individually or as a pair for a 35% discount. The New Laney Cabinet IRs can be downloaded in either .WAV format to be installed and used on the majority of DAWs or amp-modelling gear, or formatted specifically for use with the Two notes Wall of Sound environment. The Celestion Laney Cabinet Impulse Responses join Backline Heroes Suhr and Orange amplification, and Celestion’s comprehensive range of acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses including: A-Type, Celestion Blue, Celestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Celestion Ruby, Classic Lead 80, G10 Greenback, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75, G12-50GL Lynchback, G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback,G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-Type, Vintage 30 and other models as well as Bass IRs including the BN10-200X, BN15-300X,PULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15. About Celestion Impulse Responses Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers. Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include (but are not limited to) Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Certain third party hardware requires the files to be converted into a proprietary format before use. Celestion Plus.
