  1. Eventide Presents Rafa Sardina and the H9000 at Westlake Pro LA September 23, 2019, Little Ferry, NJ – 13-time GRAMMY® & Latin GRAMMY® winner Rafa Sardina is the special guest in Westlake Pro’s ongoing proSESSIONS series, on Thursday, September 26, at Westlake Pro, L.A. Sardina, presented courtesy of Eventide, has recorded and mixed in most all genres of music and is best known for his pop, rock and R&B work. Iconic artists he’s worked with during his career include Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Shakira, and Dr. Dre, to name but a few. Sardina will discuss his award-winning production techniques, including how the Eventide H9000 Network Effects Platform facilitates his creativity. The event will also feature giveaways of Eventide effects bundles. Eventide’s latest flagship multi-channel multi-effects processor, the H9000, is the culmination of nearly fifty years of R&D. The H9000 hosts 1600+ unique algorithms ranging from recreations of beloved classics to Eventide’s latest and greatest effects to completely new processes (such as a 22.2 channel limiter developed for international sports broadcasting, with a 22.2 reverb in development). The H9000 is built on a new, ground-up, modular and upgradeable quad-core ARM DSP engine already eight times more powerful than the previous Eventide flagship. The H9000’s four ARM modules can run 16 simultaneous heavy-duty algorithms, and, on top of a generous complement of onboard analog and digital I/O, it supports 32 audio channels via MADI and DANTE (and soon, Ravenna). Implemented as a networked plug-in platform with direct DAW and network (even WiFi) control of parameters, the H9000 offers ample resources that can be shared by multiple networked production rooms. Audio aficionados wishing to attend the event should RSVP here. Attendees will have the chance to win one of two plug-in bundles – an Eventide Anthology XI bundle, valued at $1799, or an Eventide Elevate bundle, valued at $199. For those who can’t physically attend, the event will be streamed, and Eventide is giving three lucky viewers a chance to win a Physion, Tverb, or H910 Harmonizer plug-in. To be eligible for the giveaways, and to be sent the streaming link, virtual attendees also need to RSVP. All participants will be eligible to receive 20% off the purchase of an Eventide H9000 or any H9 pedal through October 3, 2019. RSVP at https://bit.ly/2kobP7o. 2. Symetrix Composer 7.2 Adds Email Notification, Amp Monitoring, and More click for larger image Seattle, WA-September 2019... Symetrix, manufacturer of high performance audio hardware and software for the installed sound market, has released Composer 7.2 for Windows, the latest version of its powerful, yet intuitive programming software for Edge, Radius NX, Prism, and Solus NX DSPs. Composer enables integrators to program a complete end-to-end DSP signal path using just one application. Version 7.2 adds several important features. The new Emailer Module enables sending email notification directly from the DSP hardware, triggered by any event in the DSP design. By using commonly available email-to-text gateways, SMS text messages may also be sent. click for larger image Amplifier monitoring and control has been added for the Powersoft Duecanali, Quattrocanali, Ottocanali, X4, and X8 amplifiers, and for Panasonic WP-DM9XX amps. This enables Powersoft amplifiers to communicate current, alarms, thermal, and impedance stats directly to the DSP for real-time display on portable and fixed devices. The number of simultaneous TCP/IP connections Control Server can host has been dramatically increased from 6 to 1,000, allowing far more simultaneous users and control interfaces. A new right click Change Unit Type option has been added that transforms a site file DSP into any other Symetrix DSP hardware type, making it easy to convert a design from, for example, a Radius 12x8 EX to a Radius NX. In-place copy transfers all processing, control assignments, and SymVue control screens that are not connected to physical device I/O. This makes every design file a viable template. click for larger image Composer 7.2 adds a host of other features. The new UpDown fader type changes any fader images to create user-friendly touch controls for incrementing or decrementing a parameter. You can edit text in place for buttons, label, and text objects, which is faster and more intuitive than using the Properties pane. A hot key enables changing font size when designing control screens. A reorganized Toolkit in Site View lines up audio, network, and control tools logically by type. In matrix selectors, the display of the selected input now shows the input name instead of the channel number. Symetrix Composer 7.2 is available immediately. 5. Affordable, compact yet powerful system comes in two formats: Eurorack and desktop Riga, Latvia, September 20, 2019 — Erica Synths announced its Pico System III — an affordable, compact, and powerful sounding full analogue modular system. The Pico System III comes in two formats – Eurorack and desktop. Pico System III brings modular synthesis back to the basics, featuring multi functional analogue modules (instead of single-function modules, such as Pico Drums or Pico Trigger in the Pico System II) and is intended to encourage creativity in modular patching. 7. Forward Allows Integrators to Complete Fully Optimized Rack Builds Five Times Faster Than a Traditional Install FAIRFIELD, N.J. — Sept. 19, 2019 — Middle Atlantic Products, a brand of Legrand | AV, today announced its industry-recognized Forward installation solutions are now shipping. With Forward, integrators can install everyday rack builds five times faster and with the reliability to ensure a satisfying and positive AV experience. "When we asked installers where they spend a majority of their time and where they experience the biggest challenges, they told us it was inside the rack," said Paul Dolynchuk, director of product management at Legrand | AV - Middle Atlantic Products. "Using that feedback, we created Forward. The highly anticipated family of options cleverly solves the most time-consuming rack-building tasks — from working in pitch-black spaces, mounting panels, and anchoring unwieldy cabling spaghetti, to dealing with power blips — without ever picking up a drill. Now integrators can release their inner speed demons, building an AV rack system more quickly and efficiently than they ever thought possible." The Forward accessory and options line addresses the entire system lifecycle and builds upon industry-leading products that integrators have depended on for decades. The Forward family includes: • Forward Lighting toollessly mounts in the rack to illuminate the entire workspace, assuring that integrators can work with the best visibility even in the darkest closets. • Forward Cable Management and Power Bracket Solutions keep cable runs tidy with horizontal and vertical options, while the power bracket simplifies any button power strip installation — eliminating the need for tools. • Forward Blank and Vent Panels simply click into the new rackrail to achieve optimal rack design in minutes and without needing hardware. • Forward Small Device Mounting Clamps quickly mount and secure small non-rack mount devices vertically or horizontally using absolutely no hardware. • Forward UPS base comes preinstalled, saving integrators' backs from lifting and placing the heavy and large unit into the rack. Further simplifying the design process, Middle Atlantic is also offering a BGR enclosure that comes preconfigured with Forward installation solutions and can be ordered using one simple part number. This preconfigured option gives integrators the assurance of the industry's most trusted AV rack, packed with the benefits of Forward. 8. Unfiltered Audio LION lets users synthesize like a King, roaring into release with Plugin Alliance as a versatile VI “LION is a really remarkable achievement in soft synths — truly a new paradigm. There are familiar tools with an exotic and inspiring workflow — less software and much more like having patch cables around your neck and a couple of hundred modules! LION is a fresh and inspiring new instrument with a remarkably intuitive interface and best-in-class DSP... a must-have!” - BT, award-winning composer, musician, technologist, creator, 2019 SANTA CRUZ, CA, USA: Plugin Alliance, supporting all major plugin formats and uniting some of the best-known international audio companies under one virtual roof, is proud to announce availability of LION — latest release from fellow Californian company and plugin-creating partner Unfiltered Audio that this time sees it welcomed to the synthesis jungle with the King of soft synths, an extraordinarily deep VI (Virtual Instrument) anchored around an easy- to-use interface providing everything needed for quick patching, endless experimentation, and intuitive sound design — as of September 17... Unfiltered Audio advanced audio processing plugins by developing some of the most innovative and forward-thinking tools in the world. With the cutting- edge Californian company's groundbreaking first foray into the wonderful world of software synthesizers similarly scaling new heights, it is set to become the King of the synthesis jungle! Jesting apart, LION is an extremely versatile synthesizer with a very simple signal path, putting two oscillators through a mixer and running them through a filter — much like a traditional subtractive synthesizer. Saying that, LION is far from traditional in its exotic execution, however, effectively encouraging endless experimentation in typical Unfiltered Audio innovative and forward-thinking fashion. For below LION’s hood hides a dual-oscillator architecture with each oscillator featuring 26 modes, ranging from familiar classics to unique oscillators found nowhere else — pick and choose from FM (Frequency Modulation) synthesis, subtractive or additive waveforms, ‘super’ oscillator stacks, microsound, noise, or variations on each! All algorithms have been specifically designed for deep modulation. Moreover, each oscillator engine features an optional Stereo mode, whereby WIDE images are available at the synthesis level. LION lets users thereafter take advantage of its deep Unison manipulation of every parameter and (optional) tuning DRIFT for creating rich, full, and lush sounds using the oscillators alone — and all before starting to reach for any external effects! LION is also rather unique in the way that it turns oscillator mixing into another opportunity for creative synthesis since the Mix(er) offers distinct modes for combining the two oscillators (OSC 1 and OSC 2) in ways not seen in any other synthesizer! The default algorithm (ALGO) acts as a standard crossfader while more experimental modes all create non-standard relationships between the two oscillators themselves. These include: Bitter (bitwise operations are applied to the oscillators); Ash (various sample-and-hold algorithms are applied to the oscillators); Ring Mod (the two oscillators are ring modulated together); Min-Max (amplitudes of the two oscillators are analysed and the minimum and maximum values are found between the two with the mixer then crossfading between them); Terrain (a series of wave terrains are created that are then navigated by the two oscillators); and Compare (comparisons are found between the two oscillators). Obviously all lead to truly stunning sounds! Still better, Unfiltered Audio’s acclaimed modulation system is integrated into LION, but better than ever! It includes a massive MIDI Input modulator that translates playing into numerous opportunities for deep expression — users can control the filter CUTOFF knob with the last MIDI note value or modulate the oscillators’ timbre through V (velocity) control, for instance. Indeed, full MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) support permits using ROLI Seaboard or Sensel Morph next-generation MIDI controllers for phenomenal per-voice articulation! LION lends itself to creatively crafting powerful sounds that feel as though they were produced by a colossal chain of plugins, tabs, and automation — and all from within its innovative single-screen GUI (Graphical User Interface) with clear, intuitive controls. Clearly, time is better spent focusing from the outset on the musical job at hand by harnessing LION’s king-sized sonic complexity and versatility, rather than resorting to watching time-consuming tutorials to learn the intricacies and hidden features of a badly-executed synth — software based or otherwise. Other soft synths may well only provide a small library of forgettable effects almost as an afterthought, yet LION lets users ditch the need for external effect plugins, should they wish, with Unfiltered Audio’s already-legendary BYOME effect row also integrated as a flexible library of over 40 modulatable effects. LION’s synthesis engines and BYOME processing engine all have access to the same modulation sources, so users can create complete presets with detailed effect chains that react to their playing. Possibilities are truly endless — enter LION’s fruitful factory library of nearly 600 presets spanning many musical genres and styles to hear how powerful the King of the synthesis jungle is in action! Ask award-winning composer, musician, technologist, and creator BT. After all, he has become well versed in LION, having already attended a successful ‘synth tasting’ event hosted by Plugin Alliance at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood earlier this year, where a prerelease was showcased to industry insiders and fellow electronica luminaries like Paul Haslinger (ex-Tangerine Dream) and Tom Holkenborg (a.k.a. Junkie XL) to critical acclaim. All three talented musicians happen to be also award-winning modern music-to-picture scoring specialists, so surely know somewhat more than a thing or two about standout synthesized sound between the three of them! Unfiltered Audio’s LION is available for purchase — as an AAX Native-, AU-, VST2-, and VST3-supporting Virtual Instrument plugin for MacOS (10.9 through 10.14) and Windows (7 through 10) — exclusively from distribution partner Plugin Alliance for an introductory price of $169.00 USD until September 30, 2019, rising to an MSRP of $199.00 USD thereafter — from here: https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/unfiltered_audio_lion.html A fully-functional, 14-day trial is available to anyone registering for a free Plugin Alliance account here: http://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/registration.html Unfiltered Audio LION is included in Plugin Alliance’s new MEGA Bundle (https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/pa-mega-bundle-monthly.html) and Unfiltered Audio Bundle (https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/unfiltered_audio-bundle-monthly.html) monthly — and annual — subscriptions at no extra cost! 11. 73EQL sets a new standard for 500 series EQs with unparalleled audio performance and vintage sound North Hollywood, CA, September 18, 2019 – With an unmatched track record of creating vintage equipment faithful to the original design specifications, BAE Audio announces the newest family member among its renowned 1073 series: the 73EQL 500 series equalizer. Featuring the same Carnhill/St Ives transformers, inductors and Elma switches as its 19” rack brethren, the new 73EQL delivers highly musical and authentic tone shaping capabilities using the same electronics and circuitry as its legendary 1073. The 73EQL delivers impressive tonal shaping options into a diminutive size, making it the ultimate accompaniment to a BAE 1073MPL 500 series preamplifier or as a stand-alone EQ to complement just any other input source. With a 3-band EQ section and highpass filter controls, the 73EQL is able to shape nuances of sound sources while imparting the classic sound character of the 1073 — this makes it the ultimate companion for on-location, studio recording, mixing or mastering applications. An instant classic with a shared legacy “The 73EQL shares the same pedigree and workmanship of our classic 1073 lineup,” explained Mark Loughman, President of BAE Audio. “Achieving an authentic 1073 sound inside the 500 series format was a significant milestone for our company five years ago, and today we’ve managed to extend this capability into what we feel is the best sounding 500 series EQ on the market. With its extended control over all three frequency bands, the 73EQL delivers world class vintage BAE sound in a compact form factor.” The highly anticipated 73EQL follows the success of the 1073MPL 500 series preamplifier, which was introduced four years ago and which was quickly adopted as a foundational element for many commercial and project studios around the globe. BAE Audio has been building the 1073 for two decades; consecutively longer than any other company in history. 15. The Moog Model 10 Synthesizer Returns + A Look Inside the Moog Factory with New Video: Making a Moog Synthesizer Asheville, NC, September 17, 2019 — The invention of the Moog Synthesizer in 1964 forever changed the way we hear the world around us. The new machine could break down the fundamental building blocks of sound, gifting the operator the ability to control every aspect of its output – essentially building sound from scratch. Musicians, composers, artists, and explorers would adopt this new device to create unheard-of sounds, develop new musical styles, and explore new frontiers of self-expression – a tradition of electronic experimentation that continues to evolve over 50 years later. These modular Moog Synthesizers were self-contained electronic music systems, each one hand-built by skilled technicians. Every new synthesizer took weeks of patient, steady crafting to complete, but the payoff would be rich – a tool that would change the landscape of music. Moog Model 10 Synthesizer Today the Moog Model 10 Synthesizer returns to production at the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC – making this iconic analog synthesizer once again available to artists after nearly 50 years. The Model 10 is faithful in every way to its 1971 counterpart (the first compact modular synthesizer model created by Dr. Robert Moog) – all the way down to its hand-soldered electronic circuits. The Model 10 is housed in a rugged tolex-wrapped wood cabinet and comprised of 11 discrete analog modules, including the 907 Fixed Filter Bank, revered for its vast sound shaping and timbral possibilities, and three 900-Series oscillators, the foundational sound behind Wendy Carlos’ Switched-On Bach and Isao Tomita’s Snowflakes Are Dancing. The predecessor to the Model 15, the Model 10 design focuses on the purity of sound, speed, and simplicity while providing the enormous sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintage Moog modular synthesizer. Each Moog Model 10 is built using all-original documentation, art, and circuit board files, and each hand-crafted module is securely mounted into a solid wood, tolex-wrapped cabinet. This limited-edition reissue of the Moog Model 10 is built to order and is available in limited quantities for a limited time. At the Moog Factory in Asheville, North Carolina, every Model 10 is hand-built to its original 1971 specifications and is a true recreation of the original. Individual modules are brought to life just as they were nearly 50 years ago; by hand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiring methods. Each module is then hand-tested, finished with an aluminum panel, and placed into a custom cabinet before the synthesizer leaves for its new home. 19. BluGuitar presents a new Metal Guitar Amp - The AMP1 IRIDIUM EDITION BluGuitar GmbH/ Germany - September 16th, 2019 (ictw) - With the AMP1™ IRIDIUM EDITION BluGuitar introduce a pedalboard amp that is completely new researched, developed, designed and merciless voiced for modern Metal. In cooperation with experienced, international metal guitarists, BluGuitar founder and professional guitarist Thomas Blug has developed this new amp from the ground up and, unlike the acclaimed AMP1™ MERCURY EDITION, he voiced the IRIDIUM uncompromisingly towards modern metal. Video available: https://youtu.be/XvCtZ_OuEpU Three independent, discrete OVERDRIVE channels deliver rich and tight distortion sounds that can be changed in gain structure and timbre. Each of these channels offers different kinds of attack, response, and dynamics. The CLEAN channel, with its massive headroom and treble reserves, delivers transparent, sparkling clean sounds even in conjunction with mid-heavy humbuckers. MODERN – With its extremely high gain reserves, this channel delivers crystal-clear string separation through a massive low-cut, and the Custom Control TONE knob lets you dial from a “cut thru the mix” solo sound to the typical “maximum brutality” mid scoop. CLASSIC – Due to the hard distortion characteristics and the specially tuned bass filter, this channel is percussive and significantly wider and harder in the mid-range than VINTAGE. The mid-range can be shaped by the Custom Control TONE from “Hot Rodded British High Gain” to “Teutonic wall of sound“. VINTAGE – Tight and mid-emphasized woody sounds that are transmitted tightly especially using extreme low tunings while delivering creamy midrange distortion. CLEAN – Massive headroom thanks to the 100 watt power amp and treble reserves, which give even mid-emphasized humbuckers a transparent, sparkling clean sound. The optimal platform for pedals like shimmer reverb, modulation or delay. Thomas is a legendary intellectual creator of tube-driven pedal amps. He started developing products for well-known manufacturers in the early 1990s, some of which today are regarded as the milestones of true tube pedals. Both the AMP1™ MERCURY EDITION and the AMP1™ IRIDIUM EDITION are the results of this unique expertise. AMP1™ IRIDIUM EDITION will show up at the Guitar Summit 2019 (www.guitarsummit.de) from Sept.27th - September 29th 2019 in Mannheim, Germany. The amp can be played and listened at multiple testing stations and at the BluGuitar booth # 223 A dedicated AMP1™ IRIDIUM EDITION workshop is scheduled for Saturday September 28th from 17:15 - 18:00 at the Recording Stage.
