  1. I had a different LL36 moment for sure. The one I played belongs to a friend and had a pro setup and great strings. It's a sublime guitar in every way. Easily sits in the company of other guitars in that price range.
  2. Please stop mixing quality and grade. A top end boutique acoustic and an entry level acoustic are the same quality if they're made to their design specs. The difference is the GRADE of the instruments.
  3. Anyone that thinks Yamaha are overrated needs to try an LL36 or LL26.
  4. I'm always dubious of the "huge variance" that people go on about with Gibsons. My experience has been nothing of the sort. I blast them for their pricing, but they make great guitars. I've never played a dud.
  5. I've only played a handful of Gibson acoustics over the years and they've all been really good guitars with great sound. The best of them I still consider to be the best sounding acoustic that I've ever played.
  6. I think the book "The Tipping Point" describes how this sort of thing happens if you're interested.
  7. Ahhh - I thought it might be a hipster thing. My neighbour has a hipster DJ friend that thinks selecting a record to play is the musical equivalent to performing a song live. I'm not kidding - he calls himself a musician.
  8. Wow, I had no idea vinyl was trendy again. I prefer digital, but I have fond memories of records from when I was a kid.
  9. I've had good experiences with Yamaha. I disagree with the idea that they only do the lower end of the market. They have all levels covered and are bang-for-buck in all grades, from beginner to professional.

It can work fine, but MAKE SURE that the string makes contact with the front of the slot, otherwise all of the other notes on that string will be sharp when you tune it to the open string.
  15. What I don't get is why it matters if he had problems growing up or not. I can't think of anything less relevant when discussing a musician. The "dues" you pay are the thousands of hours of practice.
  16. The term we use here for the sort of jealous hatred that he faces is called "tall poppy syndrome" here. Jealousy is a strong emotion.
  17. I sure hope he reads this thread. He'll piss himself laughing.
  18. I don't hate him at all. I was making fun of OP, whose commentary on that interview read a whole lot different than the interview I saw.Oh {censored} - sorry Jeff.
  19. great music bahahaha!!!!!Yeah - music is a black or white thing. If you don't like something it sucks. Post some of your brilliant tunes then...
  20. He totally should have given one word answers to everything. Would have been nice if he'd smashed his guitar for the camera too. Actually, he should have doused himself in gas and lit a match. Why you hate him so much? Bandwagon hatred?
  21. I never said don't enjoy his music. this has got nothing to do with his playing. Im just saying hes a narcissistic douchebag is all. And some of you are totally missing the point. Its not a sig model! Its not about that. I dont care who has a sig model. Its just the way he talks about this one guitar. He had a RELIC Strat made in 2004 and he talks about it like its the {censored}ing holy grail. Like just put it up there next to Pages '59 LP, or Django Reinhardts acoustic or some {censored}. And he pretends its not a relic, like he didnt want it to look like some old legendary guitar, like Lenny, or Rory Gallagher's Strat . And if you don't like these kinds of threads you dont have to participate. Well he's a better guitarist than Page, Clapton, and Gallgher (RIP), so he should be able to call the shots.
  22. I think many people miss the sarcasm with him. He's a funny guy and I don't think he takes himself as seriously as many think he does. I think much of the stuff like sticking the guitar in the freezer and getting the finish stripped off is just him goofing around. Probably his way of trolling all of the internet bedroom playing haters.
  23. I don't think that this forum has any personality per se. At least not when it is left to regulars.Translation - I don't fit here, so the regulars that have made this place what it currently is need to be replaced by people that share my specific definition of what this forum should be. Try going into a biker hangout and tell them that they're doing it all wrong and that they should spend more time riding and less time talking and drinking beer. You'll quickly get the point that the "problem" is yours.
