You can never have too many Les Pauls

I absolutely love my '08 Desert Burst LP Standard even more after a thorough professional setup. It is amazing how crap it was from the factory and how fabulous it is now after being worked over by a master luthier.

So NOW I'm thinking I could get talked into a gold top. I know it is just gaudy as hell but so what? If you've got it, flaunt the bling baby.

Traditionals are quite a bargain in the Les Paul world. It was a toss up between one of those and the R8 for me, but ultimately the R8 won. It could have gone either way though.

What pickups are in your VM?

Here's my VM before I added cream-colored pickup rings, cream-colored switch ring, and amber top hat knobs...

I did have a Faded LP DC Special but the neck just didn't do it for me, and the neck joint was weak enough that I could get some serious tremolo on it just by waving my left hand back and forth. I traded it off. I had an Epiphone LP, but once I got my VM, the Epi's shortcomings really showed up by comparison, so it's gone too....
