Members hipcat
Used to be Strat...now Tele. Definitely Tele.
Members Kamikaze_1
I'd be taking a tele to my grave. I don't like LPs and have owned a strat before, but my tele feels...right.
Members Brewski
Absolutely zero contest... it would have to be a strat. Having said that, there are plenty of lovely teles and Pauls out there, but one guitar only? It would absolutely 100% be a strat. worst sounding guitar ever. :poke:
Members TheBlueStrat
Stratocaster. Impeccable body design, great sound, comfortable neck, only thing that is a flaw IMO is the huge heel that restricts upper fret access. But I've got medium large hands so that's not too much of a problem.
Members Pine Apple Slim
As much as I've grown to appreciate Strats & Teles in my later years.. Assuming the very best sample of each model.... Its hard, but I'm still a Gibson man at heart. Gimme the Les Paul.
Members Angry Tele
Is this a trick question?
Members Karma1
For me, this guitar is a nice blend of all three. It's got the Tele styling, a slightly thinner body and contoured back like a Strat, and an arched top, set neck, and dual humbuckers like a Les Paul. Sound-wise, it's the most versatile guitar I've ever owned. It's got coil splits and the neck humbucker (DiMarzio Air Norton) sounds great in single coil mode, very Fender-sounding. And in humbucker mode it gets pretty close to Gibson territory. The DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge is very warm and has incredible sustain with high gain like a Les Paul, but also has some bite in single coil mode. I also own a Les Paul, Tele Thinline, and a Strat (which is actually my main guitar). But if I had to pick just one, it would probably be this for the combination of features and tones:
Members catalinagooseV2
Owned all three. Don't like Teles at all. Never was able to play comfortable on a Strat even though I like the Strat sound. Les Paul seems to cover all styles with some amazing sounds. LP for me. Members photon9
Definitely my Tele. Most comfortable, best design and best sound. I played a Les Paul for years and have played many a strat. All three are great but for me it's the tele all the way.
Members ignatz
Tele for me. It's my voice.
Members g335
I voted for Les Paul They are all great examples but ... ... My favorite is the Gibson ES
Members noisebloom
I love all three almost the same, but I prefer an HSS Strat. The shape suits me, and I can get a wide range of sounds out of it.
Members 's mel gibson
I own all 3 and other variations of each. If it had to come down to one guitar, it might be one of my MIJ Super Strats. HSH w/OFR. Fender Talon w/DiMarzio's. With the rest all locked away in a vault. Members Mel Cooley
Seeing as, in the right hands, a Telecaster can do anything, I'll take one of those.
Members bsman
I picked a tele, but it's not a strong selection. I do prefer teles to strats, but interestingly, in over 40 years of playing I've only played one LP extensively (an early 70s LP Deluxe), so I'd have to get more experience with them before I can really give a definitive answer. Members dattebayo1
Strats have no balls, so that's out. Tele takes it overall i think, but only because of my current mood. Assuming there's none of that humbucking nonsense kicking around, the LP loses by the littlest of whimsies ;J
Members Help!I'maRock!
out of those 3, i only have a telecaster. so i voted telecaster. you're not gonna get me to pick a strat or LP. and if those were my only two choices, i'd probably go back to the piano. Members Willyguitar
Why is it that the telecaster gains votes in the wee hours of the night, and the stratocaster gets votes during people's lunch breaks from the office?
Members dimmypage
Ah...but if you do as I do and put a HB in the bridge of the strat with coil-split, you're there... :thu:
Members Gomez_69
LP with Jimmy Page Wiring. That would probably get me close to some single coil tones and give me the Gibson tones, too.
Members ESchmidt
Ive owned multiple versions of them all and I would go with the Les Paul. Maybe because it covers up my mistakes better than the other two.
Members crashclc
Got all three. They're all great to play but the strat is the most comfy.
Members Brewski
final answer: Get one of each and enjoy!
Members dimmypage
To me theres no better tone than the 4th position(bridge&middle) of a strat. Sounds great on just about any amp:thu:
