Members Elias Graves
http://www.spinner.com/2010/01/13/ringo-starr-discusses-new-album-jams-with-ben-harper/ "Ringo Starr held a press conference on the set of 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' at the NBC Studios in New York to talk about his new album 'Y Not.' This summer, the former Beatles drummer will be hitting the road with his All-Starr Band starting on June 23. The lineup will include keyboardists Edgar Winter and Gary Wright, bassist Richard Page, guitarists Rick Derringer and Wally Palmer and drummer Gregg Bissonette. Introduced by Fallon, Starr walked to the stage followed by Ben Harper and his band, Relentless7. Together they performed three songs, including 'Walk With You' and 'The Other Side of Liverpool' from the new album. The other song was the Beatles oldie 'I Wanna Be Your Man,' which featured Starr on both drums and vocals. Afterward, Starr fielded a variety of questions about 'Y Not,' which is also his first self-produced record. In addition to such guests as Joe Walsh, Joss Stone and Harper, 'Y Not' also features Paul McCartney on two songs. "Working with Paul is always a pleasure for me," said Starr. "I asked him to come play on 'Peace Dream' because there's a verse about John Lennon, so I'd thought it would be nice if we were still there carrying the peace and love. I was playing him the other tracks and he heard what I've done already with 'Walk With You.' He said, 'Give me the mic.'" Harper, who met Starr at the Transcendental Meditation show in New York last year, said, "It's been one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. I think what sums it up the best today at sound check was I don't know who had the bigger s----eating grin, Jimmy [Fallon] or myself." In other Beatles-related matters, Starr offered his thoughts about the sound quality on the band's remastered albums, particularly the mono versions. "I didn't play the Mono box -- I came in with mono," he joked. "There's a lot of clarity in the new mixes and it didn't take away from the vibe of the record. It's really clear because of the technology they have now." Asked about what material from the new album will be in the set list for his All-Starr Band summer tour, Starr said he plans to perform 'Walk With You' and 'The Other Side of Liverpool.' "No matter what, I'm gonna still do, 'With a Little Help From My Friends,' 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Photograph.' There's a lot of stuff I have to do. I'm not Bruce Springsteen. I will not go on for nine hours." It is hard to believe that Starr will turn 70 years old this July, a fact that was brought up by a journalist who told Starr he looked more like 50. The drummer responded drolly, "Thank you, but I'm really 40." He then later said, "I'm in a profession where as long as I can pick up the sticks, I can work. My big hero of course is B.B. King ... and I want to go as long as he does. We're just lucky. We just keep going and doing it." Can't wait. EG

Members ianlange11
Yes, I'm very excited about the mention of a tour, I didn't know Ringo was still that active. I Really like the mention of the two Ohio guys, Rick Derringer on guitar and Joe Walsh a guest on the album. It would really be cool to see Joe and Ringo on the same stage. Members Elias Graves
I agree. Smokin Joe has been one of my favorites for a long time. I've seen his twice and the boy can play some rock n roll for ya. To see them together would be pretty friggin awesome for me. EG

It would really be cool to see Joe and Ringo on the same stage. Agreed. Isn't Rick a CT guy though? At least he used to be. I watched the Fallon show last night (my wife dvr'ed it). Much respect for Ringo, but he should really stick to playing the drums. Even Fallon sounded better on the mic. Ben Harper and the R7 sounded great. EDIT - Ah, I see, Rick was born in Ohio. Members FXR
Saw Ringo on TV last night. His singing was interesting. I guess being Ringo and all, I expected something more polished. But he looks pretty good for his age.

Members fuzztone
Did you see "500 Days Of Summer"? In the scene at the record store Zoe Deschanel's character Summer said Ringo was her favorite Beatle and the best Beatle song was "Octopus's Garden"
Members Yngtchie Blacksteen
One of the most magical of post-Beatles Beatle moments happened on Paul McCartney's Flaming Pie album, with "Beautiful Night", which featured Ringo on drums and backing vocals. The coda to that song always gives me chills.

Members guitarcapo
For the first 5 years after the Beatles broke up, Ringo had more #1 hits than any of the other Beatles. BTW did you hear that he was the luckiest mother on the planet?Pete Best did all the heavy lifting touring in all the dives and he got on the train just as it was leaving the station with a front row seat. Members IdaCrue
I have seen Ringo on many interviews and he always seems to be a down to earth guy. Not very pretentious at all. I hope he comes somewhere close so I can see him.

Members GAS Man
Saw Ringo on TV last night. His singing was interesting. I guess being Ringo and all, I expected something more polished. But he looks pretty good for his age. Me too. I thought his singing and his song sucked. Love him though. Shortly after the Be-atles breakup, his singles were my fave - photograph, it don't come easy - but that magic ain't there now. Still gotta luv Ringo though. Members BeanoBoy
Love Ringo! Been to two of his All Starr Shows and had a blast both times! Excited that he and Paul are working together, I'll have to pick up the new album. With Rick Derringer on board this year (coupled with Edgar Winter, who I really enjoyed last time), my wife and I are on the lookout for tickets. Thanks for the info!
