Members unistudent1980
really? i find the hardtail to be a strange mixture of a PRS and a les paul. this isn't mine, but sure is beautiful I fear for the safety and well being of this guitar

Members soliloquy
I fear for the safety and well being of this guitar as do i. but the owner of the guitar said that the scratches were buffed out perfectly afterwards...
Members djfrank
havent read the entire thread but MIK fernandes guitars are great. no corners were cut on this guitar. 1pc mahogany back, 1pc 5A quilt top - not veneer mind you. fantastic instrument and was bought for ~ $300. + 1... I kept reading and couldn't believe nobody was showing the love for Fernandes. Every one of these I owned played and sounded great. Even the bottom of the line model. Korean Ibanez are great, the Dean Special I have is AMAZING, and Schecter C1 (both Classic and Artist) FTW!

Members ArKay
The 4 Schecters I've owned have been the most consistent quality-wise, from the 2005 Tempest Blackjack down to the 2008 Hellraiser Avenger.
Members rhynster
I don't know the number, but there aren't that many Korean manufacturers. Alot of MIK guitars are coming out of the same factories with different brands on them. That's not to say that a company like PRS doesn't have control over production. They will design the guitar and determine the specs. But the hands on a PRS may very well be the same hands on another MIK guitar.
Members fatstrat32541
Isn't a model or two of Sterling line from Music Man MIK?
Members Belva
I as well haven't read the whole thread. The Hamer Slammer series are of consistently good quality & come from the factory with a decent setup.Solid wood bodies for around a buck & a half. Can't beat that. Never had to touch the trussrod on mine.
Members fatstrat32541
Just did a google search and it appears that a couple of the Music Man Sterling models are MIK. Anybody tried one of the Sterlings? I was in the local Guitar Center last weekend and they had not received their order.

Members MorganB
My Korean Bich is Hot Had to get two, Well balanced and it seems in neck thickness and serial number they are from two different factories. Both are outstanding instruments, comparing well to their US counterparts...just the materials used separates them.... change the electronics .. and I love them. The two together cost less than the little amp! Members kevinpaul
I had an Ibanez AFS 75 made in China, it was junk. I have two Fender Squires made in Indonesia and they are better than the USA made Strat. It is almost as bad as the China made guitars, my best guitar is my Brian Moore iP2. It was made in Korea in 1991, about the time every one was moving out because of cost. Korea turned out great guitar like Japan and the USA did. Members mymindsok
Funny how Epiphone moved to China to improve quality and in my opinion their quality has never been worse. Unbelievable worksmanship in several examples I found in guitar center. SNIP! I know you're talking electrics but the EPI Acoustics coming out of the plant in China are outstanding and can compared to any American made guitar. I have one of these and it puts most Martins completely to shame. Cost? About $

Members Critical Ninja
My korean Ibanez is as high quality as any of my US guitars. My MIK RG470 hardtail is a very sweet guitar, and I absolutely stole it on eBay last year. I also have a MIK Dean Splittail that is a damn good guitar. I've also owned MIK Fenders, Schecters, Fernandes, Epiphones, and Agiles. I'd love to get my hands on a Reverend Volcano.
Members Noak
Peerless has been mentioned before, and their MIK guitars are really good. Not really cheap, but they're MIK. I vote that, and Gretsch are great too.
Members Ultradust
Circa 2000 Epiphone LP 7-string, NOS from in a shop my friend owns in Seoul....best $220 I ever spent, it's the secret sauce to fatten up crunch lines on nearly everything pop I do...you'd think I'd have more MIK guitars after living in Korea for 19 years. P'ups are a bit too hot and lack upper end sparkle, but I expected that and will switch things out sometime soon. Body construction and resonance is excellent. I've also really liked Samick's Dexter line, the Super Strat model being especially nice for the money, though a tad boring to look at. Unfortunately, my favorite playing MIK guitar with bazillion tones on tap sadly also happens to be very ugly and is very heavy. 'Tis a shame, really. The Swing T-thru Lastly, Michael Thompson had some kind words for another Korean brand that even caught me by surprise. 2iZ5mtKUIeQ
Members brianeharmonjr
Schecters, DeArmonds, and Korean-made Squiers are all fantastic instruments that I own. I've played some great Epis, and some not so great, along with a couple of PRS SEs that I honestly wasn't impressed with.
Phil O'Keefe
Although I think they moved everything to the Gibson Quingdao plant, Epiphones were made by Unsung, Peerless, Saein and 1 or 2 others. In my experience the Unsung and Peerless Epi's were great. The Dillion's are also excellent. I believe at least Peerless is still operational and making their own versions of things like the Epi Casino -- they call theirs the Songbird. I've got a '01 Peerless Casino and IMO, it's a fantastic guitar.

Members JetCityMatt
A handful of times over the last several years I've decided that I wanted to buy an ESP LTD after looking at them online, but when I drive to a dealer who carries them and pluck a string it is absolutely a dead plank with no resonance or sustain or anything. A couple days ago I was looking for an acoustic guitar at a store that stocks these LTDs and, being a Queensryche fan, was drawn to them again... and yet again, another a dead plank- even the hard tail! They also had a used M-II which was NOT an LTD. I was ready to be impressed by this USA ESP. Another dead plank. WHAT?!! Are they not shipping any of the good ESPs to Washington state or am I being unrealistic in expecting these guitars to resonate like my '97 MIM Strat? No disrespect at all intended to ESP lovers- I just cant figure out why I've never seen an LTD in real life that has any mojo (or anything good) to it. Is every LTD shipped to Seattle a reject? Any ideas because I'm confused?
