Members Flatspotter
A fellow forumite got a snakeskin strap that I liked so much, I got one from the same place. It's an Asian spitting cobra (no hooker jokes) belly cut. Expensive, but soooo awesome! By far the coolest strap I own!

Members Flatspotter
The strap is cool as a cucumber why do you need such a strap for a guitar that doesnt look that heavy? It's a carved-top guitar, and is 8+ lbs. It's not hugely heavy, but I have guitars that are heavier.
Members cratz2
I'm past it at this point, but growing up a Randy Rhoads fan, I always wanted a wide snakeskin strap but jeez dude... yours actually look like a snake! I bet if you showed that guitar to 100 random people, at least one would literally freak out and run over a couple waters while fleeing the scene. Members Hard Truth
E-mail I sent to the sellers today. I'll post the response. "Are your skins from farmed snakes or snakes caught in the wild? If farmed, what is your source? I am concerned about the environmental impact of snake hunting." Members Hard Truth
Response from AF designs: "I appreciate your concern. Our snakes come from Indonesian snake farms." I have no reason to doubt their word, except for this excerpt from one of the articles posted by dcooper830: "The fashion industry insists the skins are farmed or harvested under a strict system of quotas, but environmentalists say there is a thriving illegal trade, especially in South-East Asia and South America. Clifford Warwick, a consultant biologist and reptile specialist, said: "Every bag or pair of shoes purchased has behind it a catalogue of conservation problems. It has been estimated that as many as 90 per cent of the snakes used in fashion could be wild-caught." Many species have undergone a dramatic decline, he said, and hunters are having to go further to trap the same number of snakes. "The trapped snakes have hose pipes forced into their mouths, and are blown up with water - while they are still alive - to loosen the skin. They are impaled through the head, and finally the skin is ripped off and the body flung on a pile," Mr Warwick said. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) says a major cause of the decline in larger snake species in developing countries is thought to be the skin trade. Yvonne Taylor, a spokesman for Peta, said: "The luxury reptile trade is a ruthless and bloody industry which is also pushing many species towards extinction. "The endangered reptile species of tomorrow can be seen in the advertisements and luxury shops of today."" I have no specific reason to question AF Designs, but I wouldn't buy one, even though they look very cool. It could be that their suppliers lie to them. You ever bred reptiles before? They're prolific.. Even if the breeding stock is sent from here to there, there would still be plenty of money to be made.
