Except that your math is way off in what costs how much, that question is irrelevant.

I don't know how accurate this is, but seems reasonably so.

I'll edit this with other sources. I've found estimates as high as $5 trillion but I don't trust those, the websites were a bit too left-wing to take seriously.

I can't find any agreeing figures for the healthcare plan. $1 trillion seems around the average estimate, but I'll keep looking for something authoritative. I can only find either very right-wing or very left-wing sites talking about the cost, but I'm looking for something neutral or at least reasonably so.

So, I guess I was wrong, the wars cost about the same. Still...

Irrelevant? Useless war = good spending, health care for everyone = bad spending? Something doesn't compute.

It's irrelevant, because you're representing the Tea Party movement/protesting as one that has formed and is continuing based upon opposition to the Obama/Democratic push for a national health care plan. That premise in and of itself is false.

...so what IS the teabaggers' cause then? I thought it was people being pissed off about the health care plan.

I've already stated that it's about the size of government, the role of government in society (the bailouts), the stimulus (which was nothing more than a massive spending bill of pork) and the national debt. Since many people were already upset about these things is there a reason tacking on healthcare (more spending/government influence) isn't going to be on the list of things to protest with signage at these rallies?

Yeah but do you honestly believe that if a Republican was in power, they wouldn't be spending money on a bailout and the stimulus? They'd then be accused of sitting by and doing nothing. The national debt was way out of control since before Obama came to power.

The stimulus would be tax cuts for the rich... Again... Because that's what Republicans do.

Why are you assuming the protests are about Obama? They are about Obama because he is the current President. Many of these people were getting upset with Bush, the bailouts and TARP. His remaining time in office wasn't long enough to get all these rallies together. People were also waiting to see what "hope and change" was. It also wasn't any where near April 15th, which is when our income tax returns are due every year and a great time to galvanize people together.

Here's an article discussing previous deficits and where it's headed at quick glance.

This one always amuses me. Who else but the rich is eligible for a tax cut? Who, other than the rich, pay tax? As far as the stimulus goes, so far jobs are still being lost, taxes are going up, and the rich are holding on to every nickle they have.

So what you're saying is the whole movement is focused against the government, presidency and not necessarily against specifically whoever happens to be in charge?

Everyone is eligible for a cut. Everyone pays taxes. The rich will spend just like anyone else. They still need to eat, they still need to drive, they still need to fly. Tax cuts for the rich do nothing but increase the gap between the rich and the poor and artificially inflate employment numbers. When have tax cuts for the rich ever resulted in long-term economic growth? Sure as hell didn't happen this time around...

Yes. People are upset with Congress, too. It's not just the office of President. As I stated before, there are some real goofs at the rallies, but by and large, the people are upset with the continuing deficits/growing debt and the ever growing role of the federal government.
