Members The Real MC
People tell me I sound a lot like Joe Walsh. I can also do pretty good covers of Elton John, CF Turner (BTO), and I sing a mean version of La Grange.

Members ChordGirl
The only 'you sound just like' comparison I've ever gotten has been Nancy Wilson, but people seem to keep asking me to learn more Emmy Lou Harris. Oh, and I've been called June Carter a few times, but that's because we cover Jackson.

Moderators BATCAT Posted January 18, 2007 Moderators Share Posted January 18, 2007 I'm just starting to get serious about singing lately... Somebody said I sounded like Thurston Moore (I guess that could be either a compliment or a diss!) I consciously try to lift bits of Bowies inflection and style sometimes, so if I had to compare myself to someone it would be like a really crappy version of Bowie! Members light_without_heat
Yeah some people say i sound like brandon boyd but that's most likely because I wish I could sing half as well as him.
Members ZigZagWanderer
Lou Reed, Nick Cave and Warren Zevon are the ones that come up frequently. I'm a terrible singer.

Members cherri
I get compared to Janis Joplin most often, and second often, Stevie Nicks (but I hope that's mostly due to my attire & hair style). Sometimes Lucinda Williams or Lou Ann Barton. My favorite review of Empty Pockets says, "she delivers the songs in a voice with the raw power of Janis Joplin and the finesse of Ann Wilson." Another reviewer said, "her voice has an addictive flower child quality that recalls the great pop singers of the '60s: Linda Rondstat, Judy Collins, Petula Clark." Members Lee Flier
A cross between Ronnie Van Zant, Elvis Costello, and Elton John...if that makes any sense. It doesn't - but I'd probably like it. I get Chrissie Hynde and Patti Smith comparisons, on the rare occasion that I sing lead.
