Members cooterbrown
You don't need a chiro...you need a massage therapist. They'll put their elbow into your sciatic nerve...it's {censored}ing TORTURE while they are doing it, but you'll be good for at least a week, afterwards. Sounds like they make it hurt so bad for awhile that for the next week it's normal level of pain is undetectable because your nerves are shot. Not sure I like the sound of that. Members musicmanmu
I can sort of relate. I had a herniated disc in my neck a few years back, and it was PAINFUL. The most pain I've ever experienced. I couldn't play music for about a year. Even to this day, I've had to adjust my lifestyle to avoid re-aggravating it, and I sold all my heavy gear and opted for a lighter set up. The best thing you can do, if at all possible, is take some time off. Have you visited a specialist about it? An MRI would tell you exactly what's going on in your lower spine. Members snoggin
I've had back surgery twice. I've got a couple of herniated discs and had laminectomy where they clean it out and create some more room for the nerve twice.. 9 years apart.. after the first i still skiied hard and rode motocross. Heli ski in alaska but after nine years it happened again.. Now i play guitar as its safer lol. Excersize and stretch is the thing .. I dont always do it but when i do ,,,, things are better.. I stay away from the drugs as I like them too much

It really does ease the sciatica, though...definitely worth trying.

I would suggest an actual trained naprapath over a massage therapist...and unless your ailment is specifically bone/spine related, I'd suggest one over a chiropractor every day of the week as well. Naprapaths are like chiropractors except that they focus on tissue instead of bone (That's a generically simple description). 9 out of 10 back problems, chronic stress injuries, etc. are a tissue problem and NOT bone. Naprapaths study how tissue SHOULD lay, and how to identify when it is not in correct alignment, inflamed, etc. Their treatments are generally geared around relaxing the tissue gently so that it can relax and realign/lose swelling, etc....whereas most chiropractors use very jarring and violent methods. I went to a naprapath 2x in 2 weeks and had a chronic neck issue taken care of 100%; sent two friends who had been going to chiros for YEARS and they finished treatment within a couple months and were good as new. Any time I find myself borderline tweaked, I make an appointment before it gets too bad, and am ship-shape after 1 session. Plus, they are usually WAY cheaper than a chiro visit. Members kurfu
and my ass hurts. Anyone else suffer from sciatica? Makes it a PITA (literally) to play. Yes. When it flairs up, my entire right leg hurts like a bitch. Went to the chiropractor a few times, it helped, but didn't fix it. Then I bought one of these: Ironman AB Inversion XL1000 Now, whenever it starts to hurt, I just hang on this thing for 10-15 minutes and it usually relives the pain for a day or three.
