I sat down and added some fun stuff this afternoon before my gig tonight. It's all over the map and some may get a kick out of it. If you know the vocal on these which many probably do, you can add them without rehearsing them they're all so easy. Actually just message me and I can send you lyrics/chords all nicely done up. It was awesome to go to a gig with 6 new tunes.

  • Everyday by Buddy Holly. I did it in a John Mayer percussive chicken picken type of groove. It went over well and I completly enjoyed playing it. I looped the verse and solo'd over it.
  • Travelin Man by Ricky Nelson. At home I couldn't believe I never played it. I played it tonight and made up an entire verse on how that will be the last time ever playing it- it got good laughs. lol
  • Cripple Creek by The Band w/ Backing Track. Holy {censored} is all I can say. The track is SO GOOD!!! The song went over great and it's a riot to play. I haven't been this excited about adding a tune in forever.
  • Feelin Alright by Joe Cocker w/backing Track. This is another AMAZING backing track and I'm super critical when it comes to tracks. I played it tonight and it was gold!
  • Long December by Counting Crows. I think it's a great tune. It was an average song for tonight but it'll probably be one of my "selfish" songs that I'll do for awhile.
  • Only Want to be With You- Hootie. I lost this song and brought it back from years ago. It's fun. I loop the main part and can do the little licks in there. I also jumped right into "No Sugar Tonight" for a quick verse and chorus. It went over well..

I do acoustic or electric versions of most of this material, plus tons of songs in other genres too (soul, country, pop, whatever).

For acoustic versions, I often change the guitar parts a little to add interest beyond the usual "chunk-chunk-chunk", which can sound a little sparse without distortion and a band.

For instance, a Scorpions tune done acoustically:

My duo partner wants to do that one. I've pretty much refused. I definitely see the appeal to the young chicas in the audience, but I don't think a middle aged, overweight dude could pull that one off. So, I'm leaving it alone.

That's a pretty good looking list of songs. Nice mix of classics (70s) and more modern (last 15-20 years) stuff, as well as a few new tunes. Should work well.
