Oh Yeah! Nice list dude! I'll be picking through this.

I'm getting together with another guy to form an acoustic duo.  We've jammed informally twice and so far we have....

All Along the Watchtower

The Weight

Jenny, Jenny

Knocking On Heavens Door

Wagon Wheel

No Rain

With Or Without You

Come As You Are

Jet Airliner

Taking It Easy

Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down

Sin City

Scarlet Begonias

Bad Fish

Dead Flowers

Free Falling

I have some other things in mind and some of this may get dropped.  Our next step is too "finalize" the setlist.  I'm thinking adding a tablet will make things a lot easier because while we can play a ton of songs, we don't know all the lyrics to hardly any.

This is very interesting.  How do you guys organize your songlists?  I see some of you have pasted them alphabetically by title or by artist, so I assume it's in a spreadsheet.  I have some kind of mental illness that makes me compulsive about lists.  My setlist has several columns.  I have the title and artist, of course.  Then I have the key because sometimes I get in a rut and play like 5 songs in a row in E or something.  I have a genre column that I put in to make sure that I was balanced.  I used to do too much white people music, if you know what I mean.  Too much squaresville, middle of the road, suburban rock and roll.  I have check boxes for looper, whether I need a cheat sheet and whether I could do the song naked (just acoustic) if I needed to.  Lastly, I have a quality score from 1 to 10.  Unfortunately, I've never had a song rank over a 5.  I added a column for "appeal", which is whether it is a guitar song or a sweet song or to kill time.  The most important part is to forget to print it out and take it ot the gig so I just sit there trying to think of stuff on the spot.

I am a fairly mediocre singer, so I don't do the normal eagles/billy joel stuff.

I need to get over myself and just learn Wonderwall. Everyone in college who just got a new guitar would play that song and only that song. So I always associated it with people who couldn't really play. At the time I thought I was more than a notch or two above that level. And then I probably thought telling the girls nearby how easy it was would be a good icebreaker. I can't believe they didn't flock to me.

This is for a museum gig where the exhibits include WWI, a photographer active from 1921 to 1955, and the St. Lawrence River. So we decided to do a chronological gig with a couple of water songs tossed in.

I'm pleased to say that all of these songs are absolutely first-class except "The Thousand Islands Song" which is kinda B-grade but, ya know. . . Gananoque "Canadian Gateway to the Thousand Islands" and all that. There's another song, "I Sent My Wife to the Thousand Isles" from 1916. It's pretty stupid, too, but again. . . It WAS good enough for Al Jolson to record it.

1910 Some Of These Days

1911 Alexander's Ragtime Band

1912 Moonlight Bay

1913 Waiting for the Robert E Lee

1914 Sister Susie's Sewing Shirts For Soldiers

1914 Keep The Home Fires Burning

1914 They Didn't Believe Me

1917 K-K-K-Katy

1917 For Me and My Gal

1925 Paddlin' Madeline Home

1926 When the Red Red Robin Comes Bob-bob-bobbing Along

1927 Side By Side

1927 Ol' Man River

1927 The Best Things in Life Are Free

1928 Honeysuckle Rose

1929 Can't We Be Friends?

1929 I'll See You Again

Just added "So Happy Together" by the Turtles after watching them perform it live and the "baa baa ba ba bas" in the chorus really encourage the audience to participate. I also added The BoxTops " The Letter" I toyed with this once before but never felt I could do it justice vocally, so tried it again changing it from am to em and voila right into my comfort zone. My audience especially in the off season is more mature so this era really suits and I love doing songs that folk havent heard for years that "take them back". Having never done an instrumental, I decided to start off easy with "Apache"

These lists rock... Found a number of songs to add to my list... And a number of lists look similar. I love seeing some of the more obscure stuff I play on other peoples lists.. Hopefully you folks will find a few off of mine to add to yours...

That said I'm in my early 50's so you aren't going to see too much "new" stuff on my list. You will see a lot of songs that have no business being played acoustically. Those seem to go over best when I play out... It's in no particular order and not sorted...
