NGD why I like cheap guitars

I bought this one because of the neck. It’s a little chunkier than my Mexican Strat but not like a baseball bat either. The body is 3 piece ash. I found it on the clearance page at GuitarFetish. There is a small scuff on the back of the neck near the heel ,it’s barely visible and in an area I would never feel it. No problem. It was discounted $10 for the scuff but 20% off for a sale meaning it was delivered to my door for under $200.

it was very playable after tuning. The neck feels great , frets are good and the pickups are fine. I did go over it later. The truss rod got an adjustment and the action on the bass strings was a little higher than I prefer but overall it was pretty good. I normally change strings right away but it sounds pretty good already so the 9’s will stay for a while. I do plan to darken the fretboard whenever the strings get changed.867B6F39-7298-40A7-9CC0-26D48ABBF708.thumb.jpeg.ea93f255c01e32358753d856ad496ebe.jpeg867B9AD0-9308-45A0-AB5A-02D5DDA7B30B.thumb.jpeg.4b90a8e6ab2294b7f7d23faa6fcc0b68.jpeg4E436128-CA00-43B4-8959-CE56A8B0AA9D.thumb.jpeg.782fe5b0801bba67461949e348f83b25.jpeg

Got these tow Xavier’s on the double coupon sale thing GF.  Both had crazy fret sprout that I spent about an hour each on.  Other than that both sound and now feel great.  Blonde is a ash body black is an alder body

I also have two of their Teles, the first one had fret sprouts everywhere. Once I smoothed them the neck actually felt so good that I got the second one which came with a perfect neck. I still prefer the maple fretboard though.

nice deal...I have modded a couple Xavieres, usually the p-ups, a 'Bill Kirchen flip'* or a '4 or 5 way' switch set up...they are decently built and they don't go el cheapo on their pots and switches like so many other Chinese builders. I like the look of that mini-humbucker on the butterscotch.:thu:

Do you notice any tonal difference between the brass vs steel bridge?

*I did this to my Tele copy, puts the switch at the bottom of the plate, and then you switch the volume and tone pot positions, so the volume knob is at the top, so the volume knob is more accessible for swells and fades, and the tone is in the middle of the plate.

I swapped out the pickups on this Tele type. .GFS FatBody pickups with an overwound bridge.. It’s better than it’s supposed to be and is becoming my favorite The original pups weren’t bad so they found a home in another T typeIMG_0706.thumb.jpeg.c3a14b02da94e4f1f5088244b21f6b5d.jpeg
