Members Howie22
Just a songlist, not a set order list. A little more southern rock here than we'd usually do, but it was requested at our last show. Also bear in mindd we are in the South. We're a newer group still trying to figure out exactly what we are, but we've been pretty well received thus far. Song writing performance, production and musicianship, was monolithic. Today's music pales in comparison. The kids don't have the same freedoms we had, both as musicians and listeners. Damn, the constricting Music Industry 😣😴😪😬😤
Members wesg
What makes me feel sorriest for the kids of today is that they don't have mix tapes. I am convinced that our ability tape songs off the radio in the 1970s and especially the 1980s had profound influence on the quality and variety of stuff we heard on the air. It is still technologically feasible, but the user interface presented to young people to achieve the same result is daunting. The other problem is that music listening has stopped being a group activity, and is now a private thing. Bring back the ubiquitous ghetto blaster! Most of which I've seen tend to be pretty varied. So I don't really think that is the issue. I think the main difference is simply that music is not the cultural driver it once was. Members MikeyParent
Recently added:- Love Shack- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun- You Make My Dreams (H&O)- I Knew the Bride (for a wedding) A bit of a lull coming up and we are looking at learning some new songs. I was looking specifically for 80s songs that had male and female vocals and keyboards (and maybe sax) I though Opposites Attract would be fun, great funky groove for that tune. Members TIMKEYS
I just got picked up by a band that does country, do wop older rock and some pop. I have been learning the set list Things i found. Crazy little thing call love, by queen. The lion sleeps tonight. Its pretty vocal heavy band. This should be fun. 5 piece with a stand alone front man. Got about 90 songs to learn. Music here is a moving target as new younger winter people fill up the RV parks so i expect to for them to pick up some latter 60s rock to keep up with the demo. Members TIMKEYS
The band i am going to be working with does a bunch of work for RV parks full of retired people. You try to keep the music in their wheelhouse. Younger people are 62/65 and just retired. The good part is that you are seeing this music show up on tv from the 60s in TV adds so this stuff is getting re cycled to younger people as well. Its a matter of playing stuff they grew up with.
