Demos available at Sealed's Deep Synthesis web site. Hurry up, while it's still hot. P.S. Thanks to Sealed for some really good compositions. Hey, did you ever find a solution to that internal clipping problem? Is there a secret OS that cures the problem? And was it a 8080 bug only or is it the same with the Jp-8000?Edit: Nice sounds! Members Don Solaris
I installed latest OS but no help. I don't know exactly where i found it, maybe Roland.uk, on official Roland pages, you wont find this patch and instructions how to install it. AFAIK the only upgrade in that patch was related to some control signal, not sounds or filters, so you don't need it. No change at all after i installed it. Too bad. Members stikygum
That's interesting to know about the Jp80x0, I never knew there were any problems on it. That's funny because Novation boards are known for this too. At least I think the Supernovas have this problem. My KS-5 has a clipping problem, sure is annoying. Basically have to be careful with all your levels, so when you feel like gettin crazy, the synth disciplines you like your parents.

Members Don Solaris
Roland D-70The first thing i noticed about this thing was the filter. Warm sounding and completely different from later JV series and the JD series. Although named Super LA synth, this is no Linear Arithmetic synth ala D-50. It is actually the successor of the U-20, but with new functions and resonant filters (LPF, BPF, HPF). In fact it was planned to be named U-50 but in the last minute Roland changed it to D-70 (PCB boards inside still have U-50 labels). I'm afraid the latter, site's up and running (66th day in the row) ---edit---: Just added, First impressions on Korg 01R/Whttp://synthsamples.id.uw.edu.pl/Korg%2001W-test.mp3 There's very little to put finger on about 01: sample material is nice, effect processors are revamped chips that made the Wavestation famous... but it disapoints. The worst first impression are the presets, that don't really sound good- in fact there's too much of common motif around pads, too many "accoustic" emulations. It can sound really good, especially with eerie, ethereal pads (FreeFlight, Crickets), but it's kind of boring plink-ploink usually. If you though WS was hard to edit, don't even start editing on 01W, it's MUCH worse (more data per page, and actually LESS functionality). What I really like is variety of samples: scanning through ROM gave some nice impression, especially among percussive sounds- much of material has been adapted from M1 and Wavestation. I don't know, it seems not to be a bad synth, I guess it just needs to grow on me...
Members clusterchord
a nice page with samples of this rare beast w explanations. it was a full modular - no pre-patched arhitecture as MS10/20 had:http://www.korganalogue.net/korgms/mssounds.htmlmore monopoly goodness, by Benjamin Ward@AH). played thru Korg stage echo:http://www.baward.plus.com/mp3/MP4.mp3
Members Don Solaris
Evolving sounds - Wavesequence demos Korg Wavestation A/D wavesequence demo (30 sec): http://www.rolandsynthesis.com/tmp/demos/wavestation.mp3 The sound is a single patch i made with 4 tones. It combines wavesequence and vectoring synthesis. One tone is a wave sequence, and that's what you hear at the beginning. Then at 14sec i start vector synthesis. The whole demo is just one chord held from the start to the end of recording. Ensoniq TS-10 wave-sequencing demos (about 20 sec each): http://www.rolandsynthesis.com/tmp/demos/Ensoniq%20TS-10_1.mp3 http://www.rolandsynthesis.com/tmp/demos/Ensoniq%20TS-10_2.mp3 http://www.rolandsynthesis.com/tmp/demos/Ensoniq%20TS-10_3.mp3 http://www.rolandsynthesis.com/tmp/demos/Ensoniq%20TS-10_4.mp3 Couple of patches i programmed on TS-10. Same story. Single chord held from the start to the end (except last demo).

Members Don Solaris
Paolo, get D-70, you won't regret. This is a classic pad sound of early 90's. They are dirt cheap now. I got it for 250 EUR in Vienna. In fact for 6.5 octave keyboard i think this is the cheapest choice, yet the keyboard feels perfect below fingers. Patch editing takes a little bit longer, but ... i just can't go away from this machine. Every day i come from work i sit in front of it, work till early hours, and still can't get enough of it! Another jewel of Roland family. Let's just keep D-70 as a secret.

Members Don Solaris
Korg Polysix + Boss CE-300 analog chorus + Juno 60 + Korg Delta + Boss PH-3 analog phaser: Demo [01:30] - Polysix plays arpeggio, Juno bass and Delta white noise sweep. Mixed on home made 3 channel stereo mixer. I added a touch of delay to gain some space, so yeah, it is not quite 100% analog recording. Korg Polysix + Boss CE-300 analog chorus + Juno 60 + Korg Delta + Boss PH-3 analog phaser + a touch of delay: Demo [01:25] - Polysix via CE-300 plays resonant drone, Juno 60 bass, Korg Delta is used for Didgeridoo type of sound and the wind noise. Korg Polysix + Boss PH-3 analog phaser + Boss CE-300 analog chorus + a touch of delay: Demo [01:53] - I made this recording as an envelope test to show it to previous owner (hi Sleepgolfer!). Reason is: right before i bought it, we were trying envelopes and wondering why are they so slow, why it wont make that ZAP! sound. Anyway i bought the baby, replaced all electrolyte capacitors and calibrated the whole thing twice, from power supply to the last voice chip, everything. Calibration took about 2 x 4 hours, but it was worth. And it is not just that envelope are now ok, but the whole synth now sounds 10 times better, clear, wide, fresh as new. Over 70% parameters & voltages (except ensemble board section) were completely wrong before the calibration. Sleepgolfer, dude you shouldn't sold that baby, it just needed some care, take a listen to it now. @clusterchord: that Promars sounds nice - i saw it at your friends house, but didn't had time to play it. BTW my Polysix had a broken memory chip when i brought it home first night (transport?). Of course AnalogMoonRider had a spare one. Guess where. Members altemark
FR-777 demo attempting to show off some of the possible modulation capabilities this synth hashttp://altemark.snoboll.net/musix/synth_examples/fr777demo.mp3Starting off with a simpe looped sequence, from highpassfiltered to hp filter totally downthen playing around a little with glide timeincreasing resonance, playing around a bit with the cutoff, morphing square into saw ... setting a temp loop point in the sequencer, switching off1:33 in, playing a bit with filter modulation - the 2nd VCO is playing the same sequence, but tuned much higher, also playing with letting the 2nd VCO in turn be modulated by the 1st VCO ... etc etc... and more of that stuff for the rest of the mp3. not very subtle stuffat some point i want to get a frostwave fat controller to CV-sequence filter modulation amount, or sequence 2nd VCO to play harmonic pitches to the internal sequencer, letting the 2nd VCO modulate the filter and so oni've had it for a couple of years now and think some modding, perhaps even a modular upgrade would be nice, there are some real possibilities with this synthesizer - the 18db filter is not exactly 303:ish, the square is kind of "square" too, but it really is very versatile. and agressive too, didn't play around to much with post-distortion/saturation of the filter in this example eithersome very interesting PWM:ish sounds are also possible letting the two VCO:s crossmodulate at the right pitches, and then some pitch envelope on that and it's almost hard rock guitars!
