OASYS MP3s

EDIT: Here are some newer sounds, so I'll put them on top of this post.

Filter Rhythm

Voice used to excite STR-1

Strings (Equal mix of factory and Karo Strings)

Guitar and synth through Vocoder

Guitar

Pad Strumming

Audio range LFOs!

Slow Dual filters

Res

Super Saw

Synth Bass

1st Wave Sequence

Wave Sweep and pitch down (Using Y paddle stick to sweep waves)

OASYS PROGRAMS

Here is a sampling of sounds that I like - mostly single programs. You guys already know about the strings, drums, guitars, and bread and butter sounds. I focused more on pads and synths.

I'm very impressed with the HD-1 (sample playback) part of the synth. A bit of Wave Sequencing, among these:

Flashlight Wave Pad

eXposure

Locomotion

Mountain Voices

Mellow Electric

Here are some of the VA sounds. I mangled some of them, by playing with the buttons, pitch stick and Vector joystick:

Euro Bureau

Velocity Filter Basses

Stradivarious Sync

Slo-Filter Pad

Dirty Little Girl

Lead with a Vengeance

I guess I should throw in a few Combis to listen to:

Bearded Vulcan Epic

Alligator Swamp

Matrix Recursive

Lord of Saturn's Rings

EDIT:

Okay, I installed the new STR-1 physical modelling engine. While it is geared towards making plucked strings, it can do a lot of weird stuff, too. You can also use samples to "excite" the model.

IMITATIVE SOUNDS:

Lovers Guitar

Clean E. Guitar

Buzzy String Guitar

VARIATION SOUNDS:

Desert Racer (I imagine that Physical Modelling played a part in creating the sounds of the new STAR WARS ships, because this sounds similar.)

Chomp Comp

Healing Waters (This uses KARMA Wave Sequencing running through the model.)

MOD-7:

Some scored songs, featuring just the OASYS and nothing else.

ESCAPE theme

Just added these Youtube EXi demos:

if you expect a regular weekly sweep, it wont happen. people change their urls and htmls every day.. it is impossible to keep it 100% accurate all the time. sorry i just don't have time to do it more often. anyways, most should be working now, and most have been working all the time..

but i think its a great idea, if you'd like ito see the lists re-freshed more often and since this thread is, after all, a joint effort, why don't you email or PM me a list of those you stumble upon that don't work no more - i'd be glad to edit the lists.. ;) actually, that's a great idea for all KSS members browsing the lists - if you guys catch a DEAD LINK - PM or email me which one it is.

anyways, the thread is kept alive by all KSS members, so as long there's interest in demos, i'm sure it'll be arround..

a beautiful track late 70s prog-style.
done solely on Jupiter 6.
by guy called Push-Pull from Switzerland.
beside programming skills, very nice arrangement too.

Hmm I get a lot of people syaing the Andromrda doesn't sound vintage or it can't do bass...

well I did this audio clip comparo between a Minimoog and it, and many people couldn't tell which was which, and half of em even preferred the A6 version. :)

http://www.members.optushome.com.au/coolcolj2/Temp/CCJ_Minimoog_vs_A6_16'_SquareBass.mp3

first part is Minimoog, earlier oscillator model D, serial number in the mid 8000s and 2nd part is an Andromeda

Off course I made sure to optimise the A6 to sound as good as it can with
respect to it's internal level structure since it will clip very easily
Nothing too fancy, "perfect square" setting (pulse set to 52) , Moogy 24db
filter, no mods or anything fancy.
As long as you know what your doing and know the A6 inside out that is :)

-------------
later on

I did another comparo, this time I just banged out a patch on the A6 to
imitate what the Mini
had when I turned it on. 2 VCO bass, with sawtooth and square at unison

I didn't spend more than 30mins to match em
At first I thought no way the A6 could do it, they just sound different
But after phutzing a bit, it came closer than I expected!

No tricks or mods. Since the Minimoog drifts like a mofo, and the
keytracking of the VCO
is probably out too! You really need to mod the A6's VCOs to get that juicey
effect.
But not too bad at all even despite that, it does sound tighter and more
sterile though

I did two clips one as the background and temperature tuning off
http://www.members.optushome.com.au/coolcolj2/Mini_A6/CCJ_Mini_A6_BassLead1.mp3

and the other just background off, you can here that tighter more phased
sound
http://www.members.optushome.com.au/coolcolj2/Mini_A6/CCJ_Mini_A6_BassLead1_temptuned.mp3

Off course the Mini sounds better, and I didn't work to get rid of the A6
clickiness
But if you heard the A6, you would think Moog bass I'm sure :)
I don't think you'd find another polysynth that can do that!

Yamaha SY35 + Yamaha TG33

SY-35.jpg

TG-33.jpg

These are dirt cheap pad machines. I got Yamaha SY35 for 80 EUR and Yamaha TG33 for 60 EUR. Here is a short demo (1MB) i made some time ago that features these two vector synths, no external effects, mixed at the desk, recorded into PC:

SY35+TG33 ambient pad sound (1MB)

The evolving sound comes from TG33 while SY35 was used for backing. I programmed both sounds. These two are really cheapest pad machines you can get. For more info, please visit Sealed's Deep Synthesis web page.
