Members TomCTC
I'm not huge into alt-country, but I will swear by Whiskeytown or early Ryan Adams. Shabam. This is all you need. You'll want to especially get Ryan Adam's "Heartbreaker" & "Cold Roses". Great albums. Alt-country is my new game. Alot of fun to play live, too. It's a challenge seeing how quiet you can get sometimes, so you can still fill out as a band but hear the nuances of a fingerpicked acoustic or brushes on cymbals. Alot different than the rock n' roll I'm used to.

Members tlbonehead
I'm pretty late to the party here, but I've been getting really into Wilco lately. I also really like The Mountain Goats and the Weakerthans, among others...What are some good alt-country acts to check out?Jayhawks, Gear Daddies, and The Billy's are three great ones from my home state. Just for kicks, check out the country version of FAT BOTTOM GIRLS on their myspace site. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=40609989&MyToken=3242bcb1-6cbd-423d-af05-51aab9228f3e

Members Philly Fuzz
The Raveonettes kinda remind me of country sometimes. For serious? Listen to MickTaylorFan and Erksin, they speak the gospel truth. Go get Whiskeytown "Faithless Street", Son Volt "Trace", and Uncle Tupelo "No Depression" immediately. Plenty more where that came from, but that'll get you going. Edit: Not mentioned yet-- Richmond Fontaine, Drive By Truckers, The Knitters/X
