In '61, they actually did have plastic covers, the funky name badge on the smaller headstock, and a tort pickguard. The pickup covers changed to chrome in '62. McCartney's Casino (on the left) is a '62, and I much prefer the look of that model. After - what - '64? - they changed to the coke bottle headstocks.
