hahaha, sorry been busy this evening and I didn't know 'tif' had started this thread (and wasn't expecting it)

 

ok, "Walk the Wight" is an annual thing down here on the sunny Isle of Wight to raise money for our local hospice (which is like a hospital in some ways but looks after people who have been diagnosed with incurable illness) because of this it can focus more on giving people some dignity in their last weeks or months and it's a much nicer place to be when you are unable to be at home than a hospital. The people there looked after my Dad when he was dying of cancer and I have nothing but respect for the people that work there, the other difference between the hospice and a hospital is that it recieves no funding from government and relies totally on donation to exist, ... and that's where 'walk the wight' comes in.

 

So my 12 year old daughter has decided this year she would like to do the walk to help raise some money and my long suffering partner/wifey will be doing it with her too. The link Tif posted is her 'just giving' page which is a safe way for people to make donations straight to the hospice via card or paypal, it goes straight to the UK registered charity (Earl Mountbatten Hospice UK Charity Registration No. 1039086) not via us or anyone else.

 

So, that's about it.. we are all amazed at people's generosity so far for a little hospice thousands of miles away and I can't thank you enough, it means a lot to me and the hospice.. love to you all.
