Agreed. I figured my Blues jr was all the amp I'd ever need playing with friends and madison square bedroom but there was this screaming deal on a 72 Princeton Reverb I couldn't pass up. I was flush with cash from selling the majority of my pedals and figured it could be sold at a profit if nothing else. The Jr was gone in a week and the Princeton will be with me until I am dead. There be moaj in the old Fender circuits.

i had my heart set on a blues deluxe when i first started posting here, it was in my price range and i liked the sound and look. i was going back n forth between the hrd and the bd when i plugged into a drri. i ended up selling a guitar so i could purchase the deluxe reverb. great amp. save/sell, get an amp you'll keep for a while.

that casino would sound incredibler through a deluxe reverb.

I had one of the 90's blues deluxes and loved that amp. In fact, I was just thinking about buying another ones and played a used one today at Guitar Center. They really are a great amp if you like clean and mildly overdriven tones or use pedals for your distorted tones. I can't say enough good things about the one I owned. If I hadn't stopped playing for a few years and needed cash for moving expenses, I probably would have kept it.

I still don't understand why you don't just get a Blues Jr....sounds like that's what you actually want. Are they hard to find now or something? Or are you only willing to do a trade so you aren't without a giggable amp for any period?

Am I missing something because last I checked they were ridiculously common and inexpensive used. I remember the new price jumped up a lot for it and the Pro Jr. several years ago, but there are SO many out there. Hell if it were me I'd keep the Classic 50 and save up for a Blues Jr., then you have both when you need them. IT sounds like you like the Classic 50, just don't always need it and don't always want to deal with it. If you can't get a good sell or trade on it, hang on and save for the BJ.

I would think there would be people out there willing to trade a BJ for a Classic 50 and give you a bit of cash to make up the difference, unless the Classif 50's value just isn't that great anymore. That's a hell of a lot of amp to trade for a 1x12 15W combo. I wouldn't know though, my BJ will be sold over my dead body, I lent mine to my brother with the explicit instructions that he can never, ever sell it.

Yeah there's only three near me, and one of them is listed at $500 and one of them was explicit about the amp big too loud for heir apartment, so that's not gonna work as a trade.

I think you're right, I'm gonna just keep the classic 50 and just outright buy a blues Jr. I just started at a new job where I will make some good money so I can probably buy one in like three weeks. I'm so impatient!

Hehe, we've all been there. I think the BJ is an amp you can be patient on and still get a good deal. That's gotta be one of their best selling models of the past decade, tons out there. And a lot of people buy them then want to upgrade to something bigger and badder, not realizing how bad that thing can be with a few tweaks. I always wanted to hook mine up to a 2x10 cab, always thought that combo would sound killer with it.

I will absolutely be sticking a cannabis rex in there when I get one. I've heard nothing but good things.
Maybe sacrilege, but I might even wanna toss a jensen in there. I played a bj with a jensen reissue and got damn. Sounded incredible. Really touch sensitive.

Classic 50 and bj in stereo =

My Princeton and BJ in stereo was sex on a stick. And those things were born to have a good Jensen in them. The stock speaker does not do it justice. The Cannabix Rex is another great choice, also heard nothing but good things about them in that amp, and the amps I've heard with those in them sounded great.

Anyways, the only other suggestion I have for you is to check out a Crate Vintage Club 30 if you can find one local...they fly under the radar big time but are really, really great gigging amps. El-84 powered, the 1x12 is like a super BJ IMHO. Some people question their reliability but if I needed a loud amp for gigs tomorrow that's the first thing I would look for.
