We all stereotype in some way or another, whether its gender, race, religion, dress, style, etc. It helps us make sense of a complex world easier. Plus, there's the fact that stereotypes became stereotypes for a reason. While they are obviously not always accurate, it happens often enough for people to remember it.

Sounds like your friend needs therapy. You're right, this is certainly some type of compulsion that should be brought under control.

It used to be, but hockey has been my number one for more than a decade. With some extra income coming in from the website next month, I should be able to dedicate more time and a few more bucks to music again.
