Members kolapsar
if I get a 5v adaptor with battery clip connector will that be enough to voltage starve my fuzz face clone? or will it be too little for the pedal to get any power? Members intothevoid
5v is much too little. If possible you'd be better off opening the pedal up and adjusting the trimpot. The trimpot is there to bias the effect and you can use it to put less voltage into the transistors.
Members hangwire
Or get a danelectrode adapter It's usually $20-30And has a variable voltage dial from 9 to 3volts
Members 1001gear
Rig a pot in series (consult for value) on the power input.

I picked up two. Haven't tried them out yet but I figured for that cheap, even if I don't use the voltage starve function it couldn't hurt to have a few spare power supples on hand. Members Shadoof
Yep, that's the one. The store by me had a box if about ten of them hidden on a really low shelf. Tried the voltage starve out on a few fuzz pedals this evening. Works as expected. It might be unnecessary for the most part but I like that they have a little switch to bypass the voltage wheel - not that you could use it on the fly, but you can "save" a lower setting and switch to full 9v when you want it.
