it would be so cool if everyone posted scary email forwards their less intelligent/more gullible family members sent them

FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE LIZARD PEOPLE (please read!!!!)

then we could all post chatlogs, man nothing lights up my day like reading someone else's chatlog

this place would rule then!

Am I allowed to threaten Gordon Brown?

Phil is judge, jury, and banicutioner. And there can be no appeal.

I think that if he could, he would actually hit people in the head with a real hammer when he banned them, just to try to drive the point home. Seriously.

That's good for a month off.
:cop:

We had a guy over on Musicplayer who made a similar, off the cuff comment... shortly thereafter, he had a visit - in person - from either the Secret Service or FBI - I forget which it was, but the point is, this is a easily viewed forum, and tinfoil hat conspiracies aside, yes, the Feds DO monitor what happens on the Internet, and threats against the White House or POTUS are taken VERY seriously, and are usually ILLEGAL.

I can't let comments like that one go by without taking action. In the future, please avoid making any threats against the White House or President - even in jest.

Not funny - at all. And while I shouldn't have to say this, I will - it's not true at all either.

As far as the temp ban, any time someone does something like that, my hands are tied. I can't let it slide without a response once I'm aware of it. Anything illegal, I have to address. Especially if that can potentially cause problems for HC in general. Remember - job #1 for me, as a site admin, is protect the site.

Really - you shouldn't "joke" about destroying Federal property, or causing injury to people. "Internet - serious business" aside, doing so is potentially a Federal crime.

I stand by my decisions and the temp ban. If you guys think it was too harsh, please feel free to discuss the matter with Craig.

Government And Computer Manufacturers Are Caught Installing

Hard-Wired
Keystroke Loggers
Into All New Laptop Computers.

Device captures everything you type and sends it via your ethernet card to the Dept. of Homeland Security without your knowledge, consent or a search warrant - every time you log on to the internet!

I was opening up my almost brand new laptop, to replace a broken PCMCIA slot riser on the motherboard. As soon as I got the keyboard off, I noticed a small cable running from the keyboard connection underneath a piece of metal protecting the motherboard.

A little more research, and I found that that board spliced in between the keyboard and the ethernet chip is little more than a Keyghost hardware keylogger.

The reasons why a computer manufacturer would put this into their laptops can only be left up to your imagination. It would be very impractical to hand-analyze the logs and very CPU-intensive to do so on a computer for every person that purchased a laptop. Why are the keyloggers there? I recently almost found out.

I called the police, as having
myjad keylogger
unknown to me in my laptop is a serious offense. They told me to call the Department of Homeland Security. At this point, I am in disbelief. Why would the DHS have a keylogger in my laptop? It was surreal.

So I called them. They told me to submit a "Freedom of Information Act" request.

This is what I got back:

Under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), the only items exempt from public disclosure are "items relating to *law enforcement tools* and techniques" and "items relating to national security."

The real life implications of this are plain: computer manufacturers appear to be cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security to make every person who buys a new laptop computer subject to immediate, unrestricted government recording of everything they do on those computers. EVERYTHING!

This information can be sent to DHS, online, without your knowledge or consent, without a search warrant, or even probable cause! That's why this device is hard-wired directly into the ethernet card, which communicates over the internet!

I am not certain how long this information will be permitted to remain online for the world to see before the government takes some type of action to attempt to have it removed from public view.

A keylogger records the key strokes of your keyboard, whether it's Mac or Windows, it's still the same keyboard..
