My advice, come up with your own stuff. Jam some Meshuggah stuff, Soilwork, Mnemic, etc. to get some ideas....but really anything you play in E standard can be shifted down to B. Also, people like steve vai use them to just get lower voicings on chords like:E-7 B-7G-8 D-11A-9E-7B-0 Just experiment...

Members Cougar Hunter
tlbonehead has me stumped. the key of the song is "b" the guitar is tuned to E. The only way to play the main riff is one octave above the original. I don't even know why I'm discussing this. you'd be riffing at the seventh fret of the low E string. or 2nd fret of fifth string. I'm pretty sure that he's saying that you don't need to be in the same tuning as a song just to play it

Why is the guitar suddenly tuned to E? As my initial post said, take your B-tuned guitar, move up the fretboard a few frets, and play stuff that is in a higher key. We can play the E or Eb stuff in the correct registers and everyhitng. sweet.

Yes,that's all I was saying. If you're bored with the select songs that are specific to that tuning, but you want to leave your guitar tuned that way,its no big deal to play a song in D at the 3rd fret,in E at the 5th,etc.
