Members VTM Mike
I don't have any 'spirience with the Laney, but lots of playing time on the VTM, so that's my vote. What are you looking for, tone wise?
Members luckett
If you look hard enough you may be able to buy both for $350. In the past I've seen both amps go pretty cheap at times.
Members ConcreteVamphyr
You know I'll Vote laney and screw up your..... uhm... small poll... Dunno Bro, had the Ultra + for many years and won't go Peavey again cause of that mid notch thang... But on the other hand any AOR is straight up 800 flava... so if that's what you want.... didn't go to the show, did ya? (I'm broke so...)

Members ArrMatey
the aor has some sweet 80's metal thick tones. Depends what you wanna use it for but it's a great amp, especially the series 2 which has 2 footswitchable channels.

Members guitarbilly74
I voted VTM but I really couldn't choose one. I know ... it's kinda like the presidential election... feel free to suggest something else, it's just that my budget is kind of low for this one since I've been spending too much $ on gear
Members Mudder1310
I would buy either one, I consider them equals. Love my VTM that I bought after missing out on an AOR.
Members Ryan_F
I've been rockin a VTM120 for two years. Love it. They can take an extreme beating before they stop working. Sound a bit better after being modded, but are fairly kickass stock. You can actually get a very wide range of tones out of a vtm. Definitely get some sort of a boost for it, in the tubescreamer/sd-1 flavor.

Members orangekick
I've had both and I would be hard pressed to pick one out of the two. They're both killer amps that tend to go for super cheap.
Members CorpseTumor
AOR ugly, but has tons of low end...perhaps too much at times lol. The push pull pots are pretty sweet at low volumes.
Members newholland
yeah.. i gotta disagree with the statement that aor's are even remotely related to jcm800's... absolutely not. i bought one BECAUSE they sounded nothing like 800's.... Members zeegler
If you can find one, add the Randall RGT100 to the list. I'm not talking about the solid state RGs, but rather the all tube version. They're hard to find, but definitely a solid amp for little money. More versatile than the AOR or VTM IMO, with plenty of gain on tap, and HUGE volume.
Members cap'n'crunch
Peavey Windsor.... Nah, just kidding. I agree with NewHolland. My AOR 50 sounds nothing like my 2204....It's a little less growly and a bit thinner. It's low input slays the 2204's low input though. Nice thick velvety clean tone. I've had my eyes on those crate V33 heads. About the same price as a used VTM or AOR plus you get a 5 year warranty.

Good luck.....I'm the only person I know with one......I think I read on a different forum about a guy with a snakeskin one. That's two......ever It is a sweet amp.....I would compare it to my Jubilee more then anything (even though, the randall doesn't have the midrange in your face crunch). It's got a decent clean channel with the mid-boost off.......the gain channel can go from AC/DC light crunch to completely and overly saturated liquid leads. Oh...and it's ungodly loud.....I mean.....painfully loud on "3" I also have a Laney AOR Pro Tube 30w 1x12 combo.....it's a pretty sweet amp too. I have it set up with lower gain tubes for more of a clean tone with the option of lighter crunch tones. I prefer the cleans on this amp.....very nice....the dirt channel is good too.....kind of marshally, but a lot grainier.
