Members Capricorn
I'm looking for some very basic beginners songs for a 10 year old on acoustic. He's barely gotten past chords so just the really simple stuff.
Members Gary Palmer
Is he into strumming using a pick and having a go at fingerstyle?
Members sixgunner455
Johnny B. Goode -- rhythm chord strumming A/D/E The lead is a bit more complex, but just strumming the chords, it's simple. Pick any I.IV.V progression song, and have him play it in A/D/E, since he should know those chords anyway, even if he needs to learn one or two of them to play it. Or were you thinking of melody picking/fingerpicking?
Members rhancox
Heart of GoldBlowin' in the WindKnockin' on Heaven's DoorMargaritaville (many JB tunes, actually)Move It On OverRespectableWhen the Whip Comes Down(Ok, the whole Some Girls Album) Anything that is only 3-4 chords. As sixgunner said, any 1-4-5 progression song, like Move It On Over or Respectable (from my list). "Lets Get Drunk and Screw" is easy too, but I don't 'spect it would go over well with mom. Members jbviper4
I would suggest searching on YouTube for "yourguitarsage". He teaches really simple three-chord wonders, and has a lot of choices typical of a 10 year old's playlist...and he transposes stuff with a capo so you can play mostly with open chords (as many 10 year olds don't yet have the finger strength to barre). I usually pick up a song or two every week from his channel for open mics and to keep myself learning more "campfire type" songs.
