  1. I don't know for sure, but I believe your guitar came with 80/20's. I know my AJ60 did. And I think other MD60 owners would probably agree. Try phosphor bronze strings. Pick your brand, but I think changing the type of string would be the best place to start. Keep using the same gauge as your try different PB brands. When you zero in on a few brands, then switch gauges. Most of all, enjoy the ride. As my dad always said about model railroading: don't be in such a hurry to get done. What else is there to do afterward?

All three of my guitars have solid tops and laminate B&S.

My Yamaha has nato and my Alvarez is maple. The Hohner 12-string is mahogany. But it's unplayable at this time,so I didn't count it.

Terry, your stories never cease to amaze me. You could stop playing guitar altogether and live off publishing your life story.

I could go either way. I've never had a pinless bridge guitar so I know nothing else other than dealing with pins. Not a big deal. I like the look, and the ease of restringing, of a pinless bridge, but not where the ball ends are sitting so proud. If you're going to craft a pinless bridge, at least recess the holes.
  7. Without the mention of "solid" one would assume it's a laminate, though still made of spruce. From a marketing standpoint, you figure a manufacturer would use the word "solid" if it really was.
