Just thought I'd relay this from The Buddy Cage forum.

Derek Trucks Band Equipment Stolen....

Emergency - Please Help

The Derek Trucks Band's equipment trailer was

stolen last night in Atlanta. I need to purchase

the following equipment ASAP. Anyone who is

willing to sell any of this gear, please call me

at 303-778-1156.

1) Two blackface Super Reverbs, 1965 preferred,

1964 through 1967 acceptable. Must have

original transformers; everything else will be

tweaked by me to Derek's spec. Speakers

not important - keep 'em if you like. As long

as the cabinet and baffle board aren't busted,

I don't give a {censored} what it looks like.

2) One 1974 or earlier Ampeg SVT head. Must

have original trannies. Looks not important

Not looking for the oldest production with the

6146B output tubes, please.

Posters in the Atlanta area, please be on the lookout for

the stolen gear. A list of serial numbers will be posted

here as soon as I receive it.

Yet, one more professional musician victimized by low-life

cocksuckers who statistically, know they can get away with this

activity. Even if they are caught, the penalties are almost non-

existant. If you have any leads, I will put you in touch with my

friend who is a private detective in the NYC area, retired veteran

NYPD Gold-Shield. Buddy Cage

That sucks, I hope that had some good insurance on all that stuff.

Man, that sucks double-time. Derek really loved those blackface Super Reverbs. He happens to be on the cover of the latest Guitar Player, and talks specifically about those amps.

People who steal musical gear should be drawn and quartered, or terrad and feathered and run out of town on a rail, or something like that.

Jerks! They took the entire band's trailer, it seems, and despite what you may perceive, a guy like Trucks doesn't make huge rock star money.

Then they should be forced to record 12-hour sessions of shrill electric guitars through a solid-state Polytone MiniBrute II with its godawful solid-state distortion and treble EQ cranked up all the way, using a Rode NT2 pressed straight up against the grill, going into a "blackface" ADAT while monitoring back on cranked NS-10s with no tissue in the tweeters while strapped to a metal folding chair in a 10x10 glass room.

Reminds me of a talk show I saw a few years back featuring the manager of the Sex Pistols. He used to own a record store and they would come in and he was intrigued by their wierd look and went to watch them rehearse. When he got there he noticed they couldn't play for {censored} but they had alot of great amps, then he later noticed the words "David Bowie" painted on the side of some of them.

A friend of mine sold Derek one of those Super Reverbs just about 4 months ago. I talked with him last night and he has another he's offering to Derek to use while the tour is on.

Let's hope they find the scum bags who did this soon.

I just wonder what kind of security they had on that trailer. There's a hitch lock, and there's these locks you can put on the tires that makes them deflate if you don't take them off before you drive, and then G told me about an electronic lock on the trailer brakes.

Wonder if they had any of that, and if they did, how was it disabled?

That's quite a recipe Ken! For that warm Jagged Little Pill tone...:)

Steve--who knows?

But you are a experienced and well-travelled man and know how difficult it is to watch everything 24/7 and to ensure everything is done correctly.

In any case, the theft simply blows.
