Members tulk1
Hey All. My Vox AC30 is acting up a bit. Won't come off standby. Switch clicks, but no pilot light, no sound. Never had this happen before. Not in this manner. Any clues? Something to look for? Lord I hate opening up this monster. But if it's tubes, can do. Any thing else is a trip to the repair shop. Thanks,
Members tulk1
Let me revise this. Pilot light on the ON switch only. No glow from any of the tubes. Nada. No heat, nothing. Grrrr!!! It was working this afternoon. Now ... not a thing.

Members dcindc
Another vote for the fuse. The one on the back. Why haven't you checked that yet?

Members tulk1
Oh yeah, China made!! And the fuse was the first thing checked. Isn't that fuse across the mains, anyway? Meaning no lights at all if it was bad? I can hear something ramping up when the switch is flipped. But still no glow.

Could be anything from a bad switch to a burnt out rectifier (yours should be solid state, not tube), to a shorted filter cap, to a bad power transformer. Members GarysBlues
Sounds like the switch is gone to me.
Members GarysBlues
Always start with the least expensive issues that could be wrong. But that issue has nothing to do with the tubes. How OLD? Still have a warrenty? I think it s year. Possibly two for electrical.
Members mrbrown49
I thought there was another thread recently with the exact same problem. Damn. Sorry to hear it. I would take it in for service.
Members tulk1
Just called a local Vox service center. Turns out it's a guy I used to use (mumbly mumbly) years ago for my Fender repairs. Had no idea he was still around. Taking it over tonite. Be interesting to see what it actually is: switch, rectifier, something else. Will report back when I find out. Thanks!!

Members VanR
Some amps have fuses inside on the circuit board. Maybe one of those is blown. I discovered the other night my Peavey has 2 fuses inside on the board when I had the chassis out looking around.
